Question on headlamp, mouse nest in it

I installed retrofit hids in aftermarket headlamps about 5 years ago. I stored the originals in a bag in the garage. I want to put the originals back on the car and thr driver side lamp has a mouse nest in it. what are my options??

buy a new lamp? junk yard original is around $150.00
or buy new aftermarket lamp set for arounf $80.00?? any good, junk?

or somehow get this thing apart and reseal it? how do i do that?

Why not just leave it the way it is with the hid lights?

i keep having ballasts issues, its the ex wifes truck and she is always driving the kids around at night and now with winter coming i dont want headlights going out in middle of cold dark winter.. not safe for my kids..

Regarding the headlights you had stowed away: I'd tried to unseal and take them apart (in the oven, do a search), thoroughly clean them, reseal, back into the oven, done.

Having ballast issues? I was having issues too until I smartened up and got Denos Ballast and potted them. This was a while ago (on both of my cars), have gone through massive puddles, torrential rain, very cold winter, etc. No issues. My wife mainly drives the runner with our 3 year old, so having crap components wasn't an option (for me).

Head over to The Retrofit Source | Innovative Headlight Upgrades . Pick out a MorimotorThree5 (they are said to be waterproof) and cheap. $110 for two ballast.

Temps ??

I AM seeing all kinds of temps and times to leave in the oven... what do you recommend as far as oven temp and time they stay in there? I have removed all the rubber seals and screw from the headlamp. once i get them open and the nest out and cleaned up, should i just use the existing sealant or should i put new sealent on? and what do you recommend? i have never done this before...also should i worry at all about the nest inside lamp catching fire in the oven? its about the size of a softball and it all dry grass and leaves and paper

Calm down.
250 -265 for 10 mins is fine
Should have enough sealant, if you want more, get the Koito from trs, I have taken my lights apart about 5 times on the same sealant.Reassembly would be like this, put the lens back on, throw it in the oven at those temp for 10 mins, take the lights out and squeeze them together, then hit it in the oven for another 8 mins and squeeze together, now you can apply the screws you too off.
