Question on putting 2024 Tacoma Off Road Premium rims on my 2015 4Runner

I really like the new Tacoma and 4Runner Off Road Premium rims and want to put them on my 2015 4Runner and was wondering if there are any show stoppers?

I talked with an auto shop and they said it wasn't a big deal but you need adapters for the tire pressure sensors. I'd basically have to add on labor and parts to the cost of buying the ORP rims on the new Tacomas and 4Runners.

Any advice?

Are you talking about the 18 x 7.5s that come on the new 6th gen 4runner trd OR Premium? (+55mm offset) And paired with what tire size?

The lug nut size and center bore are different...

Assuming you have 17" wheels on now you will not be able to re-use your current tires. You will always be buying more expensive, less available sizes and harder to source 18" tires to go with these wheels.

The offset on a lot of the new gen Toyota trucks has been bumped up from the previous Gens. This puts your wheel/tire more tucked into the wheel well and at risk of running into your suspension, brakes etc. Most 5th gen people go for negative offset for aesthetics but I think zero offset or a slightly positive one would be my recommendation.

It would be 17 in rims from the new Tacoma since my tires are 17s

The new rims will require TPMS sensors - you buy new ones or you move the existing ones from your existing rims to the new ones. If your existing ones are original (2015) it is probably best to buy new ones as they have batteries in them. Either way, you get TPMS sensor that match YOUR truck - so no adaptors required. Not sure why your shop keeps telling you that you need TPMS adapters.

Making sure the wheel fits is a different story. It sounds like the bore size is different you may or may not need an adapter for this, lug nuts are different. Need to check the offset too. The wheel widths are likely OK - but check them too.

Would getting TRD Pro 17 inch Bronze wheels be a better idea?

I'm not going to try and put on the newer rims after reading the advice on this thread. The bronze TRD Pro rims I've always thought as pretty nice as well, so that's why I'm asking. Included a picture.
