Question regarding wheel spacers + aftermarket wheels' backspacing

Sup fellas. I am in the market for new wheels for my rig.
I'm currently lifted 3.5" all around, with 285s.
I'm tired of rubbing my frame when I make tight turns - so I purchased SpiderTrax 1.25" spacers. They are not installed yet. I also have 231mm Tundra brake upgrade ready to be installed. (I want it done all at once.)

When looking at new wheels - I have an option of 3.5" OR 4.5" backspacing.

Can any advice be offered on what my best options are for all this for the bigger calipers to fit with the new wheels, and possibly end the rubbing of my tires hitting frame.

Right now Im leaning to the SCS f5 - but, curious what backspacing. If I do 4.5"...will that 1" (over 3.5") make up for the inch on the wheel spacer? (Does that make sense?)

scs f5s will clear the tundra brakes.

whatever you decide to do, you will either rub at the pinch weld or at the fender flares so the possible solutions are the following:

1. trim the fender flares and do the pinch weld mod 2. and body lift.

I would be surprised if you rub the frame with 285s and 4.5" backspacing. 4.5" backspacing is not OEM, but it's close (I think OEM is closer to 4.75" but I don't know for sure).

In my opinion, there is no need for the spacers plus the new wheels. Just one of them would solve your problem.

Also it sounds like you may be confused on backspacing. Less backspacing (lower numbers) pushes the wheels outboard further. 3.5" backspaced wheels stick out further than wheels with 4.5" of backspacing.

If you can get a 4.0" backspaced 16 x 8 that might be better. We are running the 7069 ProComp (16 x 8) with 4.0" backspacing with 285/75/16 BFG AT KOs and no frame rub but there is little bit of rub on the front of the Limited flare that we sanded down.

I am worried that a 4.5" backspace might rub the inner top of the tire on the control arm (without spacers). If I recall correctly, with our 4.0" backspace it is pretty close (perhaps closer than 1/2"). I dont know all the backspacing for the SCS wheels. Is a 4.0" backspace available?

Speaking from experience, I have the scs f5 bs 4.5 w/ 285/75/16 duratracs and it rubbed at the pinch weld and at the fender flares (I have the limited flares) until trimming and the pinch weld mod. I also did a 1/2 body lift.

I also have the tundra / bilstein lift on the 2nd perch (2-3in lift).

I would go with a 3.5 back spacing and forgo the spacers. Nothing against spacers, I ran them for many miles. But the 3.5 will be close to the 4.5 with a spacer. Why not get the 3.5's and get rid of the spacers? You can sell the spacers and get some money back and you also eliminate a fail point.

FWIW I run a 3.5 back spacing and still rub with 285/70/17's. Adding a spacer wouldn't eliminate my rubbing. If anything it would make it worse as the tire isn't rubbing on the frame it rubs on the firewall pinch weld area and taking the tire further out I suspect would make it worse.

I have the scs 4.5 f5's w/ 285/75/16, aftermarket uca's, 1 inch body lift, & toytec coilovers. I have no rubbing at all and i didnt have to trim anything. I also have the SR5 black flares and an aftermarket front bumper.

if i could start over, i would have gotten the 3.5bs. I recently picked up the 0.75inch BORA spacers although I haven't installed it yet.

I believe with a 1 inch spacer on a wheel with 4.5 backspacing would become 3.5 backspacing. I would call SCS and verify, but that is my understanding.
