Not giving it "a second thought" as in getting the warranty or not worrying about it?

I think you should write a check for $825 before the deal is gone. I paid $1,100 a couple of days before my 4Runner hit 36k.

If my '03 turns out as reliable as my '99, then I've just wasted $1,100 but I prefer to be covered, regardless.

Chill, I believe that it's in the control box under the hood. For some reason I had the relay for the 110 outlet even though I don't have it. Toyota actually used this relay to fix the problem until they could order the correct one. You may want to give this a try to see if that is the problem or not.

At around 15,000 miles on my '04 I had to have the entire sunroof replaced. The driver seat still moves a bit (like many others have posted, but that is not fixable from what I have heard (if I am wrong please let me know). Other than the sunroof, no problems, so I am very happy with my '04.

My '05 Sport was purchased in 11/04 and has had the following issues:

- rattle in passenger door (fixed after several days at the dealer and several more at the dealer's body shop)

- rattle in dashboard (dealer isolated and placed additional insulation) -- out of service for eleven days for both rattles

- airbag warning lamp blinks when car is driven after being parked in the sun (dealer found an error code and traced it to an open circuit on the driver's seat side airbag module; part is backordered, but the mechanic declared it safe to drive till the part comes in) -- out of service for two days to diagnose plus at least one more day to fix

On the plus side, the dealer has provided a loaner for both of these extended service visits.

46,000 and no major problems on my early 03. Unless you have extra money to spend or worry about it all the time, I wouldnt get it.

2004 SE V8, 23K miles, no problems. Save your money you don't need no stinkin extended warranty.

$1,100, which dealership did you buy it from rwright? I'm curious as I stopped by Longo Toyota today and got a quote of $1200 for the 6yr/100k platinum ext warranty plan. The guy originally said it was about $1700, then he brought it down to $1495, then $1200. The platinum plan covers everything bumper-to-bumper that isn't on an excluded list, mainly wear and tear...etc. He also said that if I buy the ext warr plan from Longo or any other Penske owned Toyota dealers, they will waive the $50 deductible per warranty repair if the repairs are done at a Penske owned Toyota dealership. It is a nationwide plan. There's actually 3 different ext warr plans: basic, gold and platinum. The basic is just as the name implies. The gold covers more items beyond the powertrain and some electrical items. The platinum covers all powertrain, most if not all electrical (even minor things like backlight, leds on switches, etc.) and pretty much everything else not relating to wear & tear.

To sum it up, I have 26,7xx miles on my '04 V6 Ltd 4wd (purchased May'04). I drove alot last year due to work, but I'm changing jobs and moving to Chicago (for a year or two) & I don't intend on driving as much, maybe 15k-18k mi/yr from now on. Do you guys think that $1200 for a 6yr/100k platinum plan reasonable? I'm not refering to the price of the ext warr when it was purchased along w/the 4R. I don't know what type of plans other people are buying and the extent of the warranty, restrictions, etc. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thx

27500 K on my 04 V-6, only time it has been to the dealer is for a free oil change and the Sulphur TSB.

Don' be skeeerrred dude, its a yota.

Buy revos with that money and and a lift!!

I have the platinum warranty. I purchased it from Claremont Toyota. Originally the guy wanted $1,395, I talked him down to $1,100.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I still haven't made the decision, but will have to very soon as I only have about 1,300 miles to go.

One moment I think that since I'm going to be asking a lot out of her - pulling around 5,000 lbs. up & down mountains, etc. The next I think that since it seems there are no real troubling areas, and I still have the powertrain warranty for awhile, I might just buy Revos with that money.

BTW - As far as I know the Platinum factory bumper-to-bumper for $825 is still good to go. This is what I would get, if I decide so. If anyone is interested, see this thread:
