Questions for you 5th Gen owners

Hello. I recently wrote off my 2008 4th Gen Limited V8 in an accident (thread posted).

A week or 2 from now I take delivery of a new 2018 Limited replacement.

2 questions:

1) Should I expect that there will be no problems using my old 265/65 R17 Winter tires and rims on the new 5th Gen?

Sorry if this seems like a silly question. I just have no idea.

2) Have any of you 5th Gen Limited owners seen any cracking on the side of the drivers side seat facing the drivers door?

This is a problem I had with my 4th Gen. I would imagine the side bolsters on the 5th Gen Limited are similarly not true leather like the actual seating surface is? I read some instances of other 4th Gen owners having similar problems, but I don't recall finding any references to 5th Gen Limited owners having such problems?

They should fit fine, the 4th and 5th gen share a bolt pattern

I don't own a limited but my Softex has held up well for 50k miles. I have never seen a seat material that holds up 100% to someone sliding a azz across it 6 times a day. The best thing you can do is lift your self in and out

Sorry to read of your 2008 Limited's demise - hope everyone involved in the accident is okay.

As for your questions:

Although your new 2018 Limited will most likely come with the 20 inch wheels and 245/60r20 tires, you should be able to use 17 inch rims and 265/65r17 winter tires. The SR5 and TRD Off-Road and TRD PRO all use 17 inch rims.

I also had the infamous driver's seat side bolster leather cracking/deterioration on my 03 Limited. My 2011 Limited (new-to-me in 2016) has shown no signs of this issue to date.

Enjoy your new ride - it will take a little getting used to going from a 4th Gen to a 5th Gen.
