Quick chirp

I have had a nagging inconsistent quick chirping upon acceleration from stop or under 5 mph. I First thought it was a belt, checked and all were tight and were replaced 6 months ago. I don't think I am chirping the tires. But I did first notice after getting the coopers. Thoughts before I go bonkers? Thanks!

Had the same thing. Ended up being a belt. I've always just held a bar of soap while the belt turns and it always takes that chirp away. Usually worse on acceleration. Just my experience. Belt dressing is a mess...

Is this happening on pavement only, or off road too? If you're only hearing it on pavement I would say it is tire related.

But yeah based on your description, I'd agree w/jaynhunt, mostly likely a little belt slipping, will it do it if you take off slowly? :banana:

I haven't had much if any time off road lately as I needed a new CV, installed it last weekend, before I did anymore playing in the dirt. But hopefully I can find some time and somewhere locally to get some time in to test the road theory.

The thing that gets me is that the chirp is random and short. Most belt chirps that I have experienced are long ( 1-2 seconds) more like a squeal. This is short. I was doing more research and someone on the interwebs ( not the forum) was saying a sound like that could be signs of a water pump starting to fail.

didn't mean to offend, forgot u got a stick. waterpumps on the way out signal you with a small leak every time you shut the engine off...its a feature...again Luck.

Yeah I have no spots on the floor of my garage from anti freeze which is good because I don't want to put a new water pump in right now!

Maybe I will buy some belt conditioner or find a bar of soap ( wife only buys liquid soap)

My dad used to have a 95 T-100 with the 3RZ and it had the same problem. He was able to replicate the sound consistently on cold starts by blipping the throttle a few seconds after starting the truck. We never figured out what was causing the chirp, and the truck was sold a few years ago, but we did eliminate the water pump (replaced it with new OEM Toyota) and the belts (also replaced with new OEM Toyota). We were thinking it could possibly have been a bearing somewhere, but since the sound never caused any problems and we were getting rid of the truck anyway, we left it alone.
