Quick help with 06 sport xreas leveling kit install...

Hey guys,

I've been down this road 100 times before, but never with xreas. I want to put a front end leveling kit (cornfed) on my truck. Bought it, it's on its way, but can someone just run through what I should be careful about w/ respect to XREAS?

am I going to be able to get the whole strut out in order to disassemble it and put the spacer in or am I in for a bag of hurt here?

Just jack it up all the way. You need to jack it up so all 4wheels are topped out or very near it to relieve the pressure on the XREAS system. Other than that it's normal.

It's not nearly as difficult as it sounds. I installed my leveling lift on my Sport Edition in my garage at home without help---all by myself. Get yourself a milk crate and turn it upside down. It is the perfect height for a platform to rest the assembly on top once you get it out without disconnecting the hydraulic lines. I found no need to disconnect them. There's enough room to work and even to compress the spring.

you know, i've done a lot of suspension work in my time (01 4runner, 91 pickup i sas'd), always for function.

this would be mostly for looks and a slightly larger tire for a total street queen.

in my estimation, i'm not sure it's worth the risk to an expensive shock system i really like for a 30 dollar leveling kit....

if the system is messed up, weeps, leaks, whatever... i will be royally ticked off at myself for doing this :laugh:

for now i think i'll just swap out the tires and enjoy her as is.

maybe some time in the future, i'll ditch xreas all together and do it right.

I think you are worried about nothing. You're not going to cause a leak in the system by installing spacers unless you do something really stupid. There's plenty of slack in the hydraulic lines and you don't have to put any pressure on them to install spacers. There's really no risk at all.

But it's your vehicle and your choice. As long as you can live with the squashed down look on the front end, then so be it. I personally hated that look and a simple spacer lift was all it took to make the front end look as it should have from the factory.

Just get the type of spring compressor that locks on to the coils. Do you know what I mean? They clamp on top, but lock around the bottom. You can even "rent" them for free from Autozone if you don't have your own.

ok it's in.

it wasnt as scary as expected with the xreas lines, but still a little annoying to deal with.

very slight difference... i was expecting more.

any opinions on if i can get 32s in? i was thinking 'of course' before, but it looks tight still.

32s will fit no problem, might have to trim front plastic though, its not a big deal

Yeah i figured there may be SOME trimming... which sucks, but whatever.

im going with 265/70/17 revo's.
