Quick Question

I am looking into buying a 1997 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 5 speed. I have it in my driveway right now to test drive, and to have my mechanic look at tomorrow. It has 120XXX miles on it, and the only options it has are Power Windows, power door locks. The dealership is asking 8,000$. Does that sound like a decent price? I definately intend to get them down on price though.

My main question is, when I have the headlights off, and press the break, the lights in the dash come on. I am not sure if this is normal or what, but I have never had a car that did that.

Thanks

that doesnt sound very normal to me, are you talking about the lights for the instrument cluster? perhaps a wiring problem is the cause... more details!!

Its the lights in the sterio, instrument cluster, everything, whenever I press the brakes and the headlights are off.

thats not supposed to happen

now you have two options

1. you can take it back to the stealership and tell them to fix it and warranty electrical issues for X amount of miles.

2. you can get another vehicle, i would love for you to get an old body 4runner, but one that they are trying to sell for 8k with that many miles on it with an electrical issue doesnt make sense.

8k for a 4runner of that year and that many miles is too much

kelly blue book is only 7,135 for a suggested retail value, i wouldnt pay more than 6500 for it and even less for the electrical issue, be sure to bring that up and they will prob give you a really good deal, good luck, and dont let the dealer treat you wrong

It is actually a good deal for around here, dealer KBB value is 9k$ with my area code (30005).

I would also LOVE to get a 2nd generation, but my parents say i have to have airbags.

It is a Chevrolet dealership, I hope they know what they are doing.
