Quick Question

Hows it going guys. I just got my 2006 Sport Edition 4runner, and i really want to toss a lift on it and a new exhaust. With the exhaust i want it to sound good but not overwhelming. Basically im just wondering what suggestions all of you guys have for a lift and exhaust. And Also what tires i should get once i get the lift?

Ok I'll be the one to say it. First off, do a search for whatever mod you're wanting to do. And then read the posts by all the other owners here who have done whatever to our T4R. Then if you have a specific question on whatever mod you're seriously considering, you can help the rest of us with having a detailed question...not just something so open ended. Ruffian's got it right. You gotta answer more questions before we can give out advice or recommendations. Do you want to keep the XREAS suspension that comes with the sport or do you mind dumping it. If you want to keep it then your only option is a spacer lift, either Daystar 2.5/1.5 or Cornfed 3/2. If you can live without XREAS then you can do a full coilover replacement.

It seems like some use the TRD exhausts. Overall exhaust mods on the T4R doesn't seem as popular as it does on other vehicles. Many use and seem to like the Cornfed spacer lifts for mild lifting.

If you search either of these you'll find weeks worth of reading.

Check out member Good Times' personal site. It's a good starting point to know what options are out there and what you ultimately want to accomplish--not to mention an excellent resource.

The options for what you want (i.e. serious wheeler and/or big tires or just going for the lifted look and very little wheeling) would be different depending on budget and certain mods can't be done on a lower budget (like stuffing 35s).

Good choice. With a spacer lift and wheel spacers (and a bit of trimming ) you can fit some pretty big tires.

As for which tires to get, that's a whole can of worms by itself. It depends on how serious you want to wheel, where you live and what kind of trails you'll be doing and how much on-road performance you are willing to give up.

Here in Kentucky we have mud and lots of it. I went with the biggest M/Ts I could fit. It is my daily driver also but I don't mind the extra tire noise. Plus aggressive M/Ts look badass! If you're in the West you could go with a less agressive tread since you have a lot less mud.
