quick speaker wire help

changing out my front speakers and i dont seem to have power to my driver side. I tracked the wire and there seems to be no power to it. i've tested the old speaker and nothing as well so its been dead for some time. Any help to where i can get power or how its supposed to be working? I have my door torn apart and dont want to put it all back together to tear it off again.

how did you "test" the speaker?

with a know good one, from lets say the other side that is working?

could be both blown. do you have a KNOW good working speaker?

I was doing a test light. But i know ALL my speakers work besides my drivers door. Front Center, Front Right both work.

I opened up my head unit wiring and checked everything but its all right and nothing kinked.

I tested the passenger side known working speaker on the drivers door and nada. Tweeter as well doesnt work. Passenger side fully replaced and sounds great.

Im wondering if the amp in the rear somehow is blown on the drivers door wiring?

Take the connector off the radio and tap in a speaker there to see if there is any output from the radio. Check the source

I have the JBL system and aftermarket head unit so its RCAs. I guess i could put the rears on the front and see if it works. If it does i'd assume the amp for the drivers door is bad.

No amp only for drivers door. It's only one amp for everything. Swap rcas around. You need to confirm there is audio coming out first. A, b then c

Ill do that in the morning and post. If no sound i have no idea what ill do but i can leave it apart and wait for a reply while i do other things.

Even though rca in, check if there is output from the module

i had issues with the driverside speaker as well....i actually ran wire all the way back to my amp

A 12V DC Test Light should not work to test for power at the speakers, the current in the speaker wire is A/C and varies in voltage with the volume knob.

Correct, that's why I ask how he was testing.

You should also pull the rubber boot that covers the wires from the body into the door. From my experience, when only the drivers door stops working, there is likely a break in the door boot. Drivers door opens and closes the most out of them all. I never had a reason to look for the oem wires, so I don't know if they go from the amp and up the passenger side runners and around the firewall then to the drivers door.

Swapped rear RCA to front. Driver door still doesn't work. Now checking voltage from jbl box from head unit.

fixed my issue.

It for some reason had a break or kink in the passenger side kick panel. Amp was fine so i tracked it down and fixed where it was kinked. Works great now.

hmm, how did that happen? that doesnt sound like it can happen normally. did a panel go back in wrong? and pinched a wire? what was done in that corner in the past? what signs lead you to think that?

i'm all about the chase to fix this stuff. i love to do this kind of work at my shop.

i checked the wire at the amp, worked fine so i kept going up the harness until it no longer worked. So i traced it back to where it worked again and jumped the wire. Im guessing somewhere along the life of the car someone put the kickpanel in wrong and pinched it.
