Quicksilvr's Build Thread

Your truck is so shiny. Its really nice. I would hate to beat that one up. And bonus points for the Ron Paul!

Thanks, it's not quite a nice as it looks, lol. I'll take those bonus points...wondering where I can cash them in? There's actually a bunch of good Ron Paul bumper stickers available, but the one on my runner is just plain jane one that came with a Gasdsen flag sticker off eBay. I bought a couple of the cool ones and then I pissed my wife off and stuck one on her RAV4 without asking her. Made my sister put one on her 4Runner too. hahaha.

Nice Runner. Nice and clean. :D

Thanks man. I love your rig. It's really sharp and clean too.

So whats your total lift for the front and rear? I have a set of tundra coils/shocks but still need something for the rear. I was thinking about scrapping that idea and just getting somthing off toytec-3"spacer lift/spring kit. Whats your opinion on that? I really want to get 17" with 33s might need a body lift.

I have 1" topout spacers on the TRD Tundra fronts. I haven't measured the total lift since the 285's have been on.

I honestly like my lift alot, and there is one variation that would also work well. I like the front setup, and the rear is OME 890's with 1.5" spacers on top. Instead of the 890's and spacers, you could just get 8 wrap LC coils. If I was you, I would keep the TRD tundra stuff, get some 1/4" or 1/2" topout spacers (I think my 1"ers are fine, but maybe a little overkill and you would be fine with less), and then get some LC coils for the rear or the OME 890/spacer combo.

Its funny how hard it is to pick a lift setup. I really have been trying to decide for weeks. Last question, do you think with your setup I could fit 33x12.50x18s under it? I know its a lot of wheel, but Im just weighing my options/wheel/tire availability. I know someone that has them with 2.5" Daystar Coil Spring Spacer Lift and 2" Roger Brown body lift(no problem)

Wow, 18's? 12.5's are going to want to rub your UCA's.

2" body lifts solve a lot of things. Honestly, the only way to know what you're going to get is if you do your suspension lift, put the wheels/tires on, and see what you've got. Every tire is a little different, and every truck sits a little different even with the same lifts.

Just ordered the daystar spacers. Still looking for some cheap 890s. If u had to do it again would you get the 891s? Whats a panhard drop? Do i need that as well? Im going to go ahead and order the diff drop, seeing that most people do that. First time lifting anything, Ive always been in the buisness of lowering. Cant wait to see the outcome

Nope, I don't haul enough weight or tow often enough to want the 891's. The 890's are perfect for me. I don't have a panhard drop intalled yet, and I'm considering not messing with it. The axle isn't pulled to one side hardly at all, and I don't think there's anything bad that can be caused by the axle being off center by only 1/8". The diff drop is pretty easy to put in, and I think it's worth it. Some people don't like them, but I'd say the majority of lifted 4runners have them.

Bad news everyone. :( Well, good and bad I suppose.

The wife and I just bought a new house! Much needed upgrade, we're currently still in our 2 bed 1 bath house that we bought when we got married. But now we have 2 kids....and it's getting tight. We'd been looking for a house for a while, and we finally got one this week.

Bad new is that I have to sell the 4Runner. We have 3 cars right now, and with the new mortgage payment....I have to be smart and get rid of one vehicle. The 4Runner is best choice to sell since it's still worth a decent amount of money, and I HAVE to drive a ton of miles for work. So keeping the car and selling the truck is just the way it has to be. :(

If anyone is interested, let me know. I'm putting up a post in the classified's right now.

I know, I've thought it over a lot, and talked to the wife. No way around it, it just needs to go. I wish I could sell the car and keep the truck, but it doesn't make as much sense.

Yes, the house is exciting! It's in an awesome neighborhood, great back yard, and the house is really well built. It was built in 1988, and hasn't been updated since then, so we have some minor remodeling to do. 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom, with a full unfinished basement. With the basement, it's 3600 sq ft. Our current house is 1100. lol

Ah man that hurts...but its ok cars come and go....congrats on the house.

I had to sell my previous car cuz my dad lost his job....luckily for me I had just enough to get a runner after we got back on track

Could you be more specific on how I can find and purchase the TRD Tundra front suspension? I love your rig and the stance, its exactly what i want to do to mine...

What year of tundra?
Part Number if possible?

I tried looking on Toyota Parts but I cant seem to find exactly what I need.
And as of currently you are running the OME 890's in the rear?

The TRD Tundra suspension can be purchased used (which is what I did) or you can piece it together with new parts. To buy used, you just have to look on the for sale forums here, yotatech, etc. Craigslist too.

For new, the option is actually better because you get the Bilstein 5150 shocks, instead of the Bilstein HD's. The HD's are what were stock on the actual Tundra TRD's...so that's what I have. They ride stiffer than the 5150's. Best option for new is just to buy them already assembled from Steve at SonoranSteel. If you piece it together, you need the TRD Tundra springs and Bilstein 5150 Tundra shocks.

Yes, OME 890's with 1.5 spacers on top of them.

Update: I removed the rear sway bar. My lift was too much for the stock length endlinks and they were starting to tweak a little. So I just took the bar off....and it drives great. I never took corners hard to start, so really I can't tell any difference at all.
