Quietest Interior T4r 2016/2017

If this is any consolation......... I had a 2013 FJ, when I started modding it I found it had virtually no insulation in any side panels. It was the reason people were dynamatting them like crazy.
Road noise was not noticed when we test drove it for a whole day prior to my purchasing it.
Then when they gave me a loaner when my FJ was in for service @ the dealership was when I really noticed the quietness of the 4Runner.
So, they are not the most quite SUV's out there, but they are not noisy by any stretch!

I was going to say GX460...My dad has a GX470 and its definitely quieter going down the road than my 4th gen T4R is.

Gx460 is surprisingly quiet, and I never thought the 4Runner was bad. I've been in worse cars so to me it's a non issue. I'm dynamiting my fzj80 tomorrow but that's a different story .

Ahahahaha... auto spell-correct strikes again! Yea dynamat, well not even that I got the Noico brand one off Amazon to give it a try. Tape deck finally died so I'm doing a whole stereo/speaker/backup camera upgrade. I'll post it over at 'mud in the 80 section.

I don't think my '16 TEP is very noisy at all. Sure, there's some engine roar at higher rpms, but all in all it's a lot quieter than I expected.
Three days after taking delivery of the 4Runner I bought my girlfriend a new '16 Avalon Touring. It's quiet, but that's only with the radio turned off.
I just sold my '10 Highlander Limited. I miss that JBL system. And the keyless entry, too. But I'm getting over it.
Roll the windows down, open the sunroof and crank up the stereo. I'm old and half deaf.

Haha. Interesting this topic comes up. Just drove the 14 Honda Odyssey to Colonial Beach, VA and back for the day and said to my wife how the mini van (even sans kids) is louder than my 4runner with 285 ATs a magna flow exhaust, and a gobi rack.

Go to Budget and tell them you want to rent the cheapest piece of shit they have on the lot.
If you get really unlucky it will be a Nissan Sentra with the rubber band transmission.
Then, and only then my friend you will realize how truly quiet every other vehicle on the face of the earth is comparatively.
As an added bonus after day #1 you will realize just how truly shitty the Nissan CVT is, and by day #2 you will be doing everything in your power in an attempt to blow that POS up just to end your misery.
Source: Me. I (sadly) got one of these POS' as a rental and on day #2 had it 2k over redline coming down Trail Ridge road. I was praying it would blow up just so I could push it's worthless carcass off the cliff at mile marker #87.

I hate wind noise and I think our 5th Gen Limited was pretty good out of the box... better than some cars I have owned in the past.
Tires make a difference and if you dont like noise make sure you have some good street shoes.
I went to check out a GX last week and though it was extremely quiet... perhaps its time to take a look at those. Its a bit less off-road but its got a really smooth running V8.

I know a few people have done it but I was wondering if anyone can chime in on the cost of dynamating the 4R. Looking at getting a few quotes and want to know I'm not getting ripped off.
