R.I.P Paul Walker

Here's the story I read and why it would be reasonable to believe he was the driver:

The accident occurred in Santa Clarita — outside of Los Angeles — when Walker's Porsche apparently lost control and crashed into a tree, TMZ reported. The car burst into flames and exploded.

The story has been updated to reflect the more current information. I know I drive my car and I think it's fair to think he would be driving his car when it wrecked.

As I said, the story was still developing and was updated. Again, regardless of who was behind the wheel, that person made stupid decisions and those stupid decisions killed two people. I'm not sure why that's so hard to grasp here. Since people like to drive down whatif blvd..If the driver had been the only occupant and killed a pedestrian, they would be condemned for their actions. Regardless of what the pedestrian had been doing, in my state, if you're speeding, you've given up any right of way you might have had. In this case, speeding is clearly an understatement.

RIP

I'm sure we've all done stupid stuff and been fortunate to survive... that's part of life and, in some cases, death, unfortunately. Surely you guys have something better to bicker about.

Did what exactly? Getting into a car as a passenger and not predicting he was going to die?

its being reported that he was a passenger...............

if true, that makes lots of posts on this thread pure BS.

The stories that I read all said that he was a passenger. I never said in any of my statements that he was driving. I said that he chose his actions with his friend. They both paid the piper. My statements still stand. He could have told his friend to chill out. He may have but I doubt it. Regardless of what may have or have not been a fact, there are a couple things that are a fact:

1) they were driving at a very high rate of speed
2) they were driving on a public road
3) there was a good chance that they could have killed an innocent bystander

I'm sorry for those affected by his death but I cannot say that I have any sympathies for those in the car that were killed.

you guys turned a griefing thread into a pissing match. Fuk all you guys

Regardless of your feelings towards this thread or the direction that it is going, there is no reason for your response. Consider this a warning and think twice before posting.

Lots of self-righteous speculation, faux justification and hypocrisy in this thread.

I didn't know the man except as an actor. But denigrating him especially without knowing the facts in this his Memorial thread, is classless and truly pathetic.

Interesting logic. Ask him to chill out? Lol what do you do, punch the driver? Slap him? Ask him pretty please to slow down? It is possible Paul egged him on, but you don't know that. And no, "they" weren't driving, there was only one driver. I find it bizarre that after knowing he was a passenger (assuming this is indeed the case) you still attempt to place blame on him- someone who won't be able to give their side of the story.

I think a fair position would be to wait for all facts and witness statements to be presented before drawing conclusions and making assumptions.

I can honestly say that I would prefer if none of this had ever happened. I wish I could do something to make this world a safer place and not have anyone hurt or killed ever again. But that's not the world we live in. I am absolutely tired of hearing about people getting killed because of their decisions. I am more sick and tired of hearing about innocent people getting hurt because of someone else's stupid decisions. I would say that probably weekly or at least once every other week I am hearing a story about how someone was hurt or killed because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time while someone else was doing something stupid. Last week one of my guys from work crashed his car because he was driving stupid. Lucky for him he was fine and he didn't hurt anyone but he easily could have. I hold absolutely zero sympathy for those who decide to endanger other peoples lives because they feel the need to be an idiot.

I'm with you and see you're just clarifying your values. I don't think any rational person would disagree with you on that and I certainly don't. Deliberately endangering others is reckless and selfish.

Uh yeah at a minimum. Absolutely, especially with death as the alternative.

You clearly don't get it or you are the #1 Paul Walker fan boy of all time. It doesn't matter who was driving or who was shotgun. The driver, whoever it was, made a mistake. While it was initially understood it was Paul Walker, it now appears it was someone else. Whoever that someone else is, made stupid decisions. It's impossible to know what the passenger was doing as far as adding fuel to the fire or trying to get the driver to calm down.

The latest report shows the other person in the crash was the owner of his racing team. Both guys were huge car enthusiasts and probably never imagined they would go out like that.

Like I said - we've all done stupid stuff - even things that we believe are within our abilities. Some of us pay the ultimate price while many live to see another day.

A couple local friends who were at the event said the car was only traveling around 45mph before losing control. Whether Roger goosed it at 45 and spun it or if some type of mechanical failure occurred is open to speculation. The CGT was designed to separate the back engine/trans compartment from the front cockpit and it looks like that is exactly what happened. The fact that they remain relatively close to eachother makes it seem like they may have been pinned inside and that the fire engulfed the car too quickly. Very, very unfortunate incident and my condolences to family and friends. I had the opportunity to meet Paul two years ago at a charity event in Del Mar, CA and I can tell you he was a genuine car enthusiast and gear head and a truly nice person, and he will be missed.

Edit: I would also like to add that Roger was a veteran behind the wheel of fast cars. Him and Paul were racing Boss 302 Mustangs in Long Beach a few months back.

I'm sure they were good people and their loss is very unfortunate.

So Walker was not driving, the driver was not excessively speeding, if at all, and it is not believed to be alcohol related. I'm glad everyone decided to not call out the driver and passenger for drinking and driving, reckless driving, endangering lives around them, and passing away in what seems to be a tragic accident.
God forbid any of you die in a wreck and people blast you all over the place before anyone has any damn answers.
Some of your posts are ridiculous, and are the prime example of opening you mouths when you have no right to, which makes you nothing but self righteous a**holes in this instance.
Back to the original point of this thread, RIP both Paul and his friend.

I'm sorry your friends had to witness that. It's cool to hear he was a true gear head, and good guy.

It's nice to have some confirmation that it wasn't a high-speed crash as some have self-righteously speculated. A truly high-speed crash where the car hits a thin immovable object broadside, as in the pic, the car is usually torn in two, and the halves will be found some distance away from the point of impact.

RIP Paul and his friend. Condolences to their families and friends.

How do you or anyone know what actually happened?

The car could have blown a tire or suffered an LBJ failure (a stretch I know but hey).

The point is just because someone looses control doesn't mean they were breaking the law.

barely 10 posts and the blasting begins? Rediculous. Especially by a senior member. Thinking twice before posting applies to defamation as well. And anyone who thinks you have to be going ridiculously fast to lose control of a high powered sports car has never driven one. One small mistake and your not in a good spot

Paul Walker will be missed as a person and as an enthusiast.
