If this 3rd alternator goes to shit I’ll try and get my money back. And get a denso one. Denso makes a alternator for the Cadillac. But it’s crazy because plenty of people run autozone alternator without issue. It’s just my luck.

There are plenty of people on this site who have had problems with rebuilt GM Alts. Doesn't matter which auto part store they get it from. I used to buy them for my old cars, never got more than a year or 2 out of them. I'd rather spend $300 & get another 18 years out of it & not have to deal with it.

I would assume that getting a used one would be a better option but since you have already tried that once, maybe rebuild is the right way to go.

I was looking through the FSM. And it seems that our trucks came with a w59 manual transmission. Is that for 2wd or for 4cylinder ?

The W59 is what I have & came with the 3rz's. Maybe you should convert over, I haven't seen one fail yet!

I mean, that's an apples to orange comparison. I hate working on cars so I never bothered "upgrading" to the CS144. Warranties are cool but they don't cover labor and downtime so they are pretty much worthless to me. That $400 alternator isn't really comparable to a random junkyard transmission that might need to be swapped out next year. I saw those Cobra rebuilt kits but I don't see the parts lists anywhere, and when that isn't given then I always assume it's generic brand crap.

Funny, I drove an auto 3RZ truck the other day. I have a pretty bad case of sciatica in my right leg and I still think I could run faster than that thing.
Spoke with marlin crawler again. So r150f after 91 is vin specific. Meaning every truck has its own corresponding parts such as syncros , gears and more. It’s not just a general r150f where they made one and put it in all trucks. Basically depending on the trim model. That’s why they don’t sell a rebuild kit for it.
And since I’m swapped. It would be a headache to get all matching parts. Since I have my first r150f sitting in the basement. I will send them my transmission first. So they can evaluate the core charge. If the transmission needs a simple rebuild that a rebuild kit would do. Then I would get $500 core back. So, I’ll send my transmission first. Since I still got one in my truck. And once they evaluate it I can order the new transmission with the core differences already.
