Radar Detector

I found this info at a money saving web site (FatWallet.com) - FACTORY Refurbished V1 for $359!

The legendary V1 never goes on sale and is sold by factory direct only. This is your best option if you want to get it cheaper than MSRP (10% discount). The refurbished unit looks like new and comes with the same 1-year warranty. CSR will always tell you they don't have any refurb in stock and put you on the waitlist but you'll get your unit within a week in most cases.

I've heard good things about valentine

If yours is not hard-wired, i would honestly consider ebaying it, or returning it if it's a brand new purchase. The two absolute best detectors on the market right now are the Bel Sti Driver and the V1, again this is detector only. However the Bel Sti Driver is a lot better than the V1 (to my suprise)

If you do some research on current police laser you will find that any and all current jammers do NOTHING to protect against them. They simply cannot be jammed, there is even a $15,000 dollar award being offered to anyone who can provide one that does in fact work against them, but nobody has been able to prove it.

I would honestly just go with either a V1 or a Bel Sti Driver. Actually although i'm a huge V1 fan, i am about to purchase a Bel Sti Driver based on that fantastic review posted earlier.

The V1 has recieved no major update in over 10 years, and although it's still a fantastic detector the Bel Sti Driver is a huge improvement and seems like the absolute best choice.

I'd give up on the jammer idea though after doing a lot of research on them, it's a proven fact that none work.

Hope all goes well, lemme know which one you decide to go with! :)

The escort seems to do even better that the bel on almost every test I have ever seen...........

Which bel? It's not the Sti Driver i would imagine...

links?

Eh must not be the Sti Driver then. I'll take your word for it, too lazy to look for the sites, ive been working non stop on my english final crap.

I just bought an Escort Passport 8500 X50. I didn't get the valentine because it was over $100 more and the only difference is that it shows the direction that you are being hit from. Their reviews are basically the same-the escort is actually better in some categories. And I didn't feel like forking out $450 for the Bel Sti, i'll let you guys know how I like it.

ive ALWAYS wanted a radar for my runner and buddys stang, but cant bring myself to spend the money :p, so I just keep my eyes peeled, and I rarely see cops on the highway :D

A lot of people who are against radar detectors back up their hate by saying "once it detects laser, they have you" but that's not necessarily true. Unless they wait 5 minutes and then hit you, you will detect them because they will be hitting the cars in front of you, or behind you as they catch up to you on a freeway.

If the road is curvy enough that the detector won't catch something, then you might not want to be speeding to much on it lol. Might go over the edge. :biggrin2:

You need either a Bel Sti Driver, Valentine 1, or an Escort Passport 8500 X50 (or their new one which I believe is a 9500i). Those are the 3 best.

There is very, very little scatter from a laser gun.

You may get lucky and detect it off someone else, but don't plan on it.

I have a V1 and an Escort 8500x50.

I have the Escort Passport 8500 X50. How do you like yours?

And does anyone know why detectors go berserk when you go near grocery stores?

I'm running Valentine 1 and Blinder M20 laser diffusers in both my cars and they have saved me several times!
