Radiator

Which radiator would you recommend?

Yes, I did my research but still can't decide well first of my radiator is missing some coolant every time I check which is like every other day it should be expected since I have 261xxx miles. In the meantime I top it off and run it, after I shut it off it leaks coolant but I did notice it just leaks after I filled. I have decided to buy a new radiator before its to late I called my local toyota and they want $325 for a new one which seems ugh little too much. My other options would be to go with the denso for like $100 off Parts geek or the one from amazon the tyc 1998 for $88 that I heard most people run on here or just go to my local auto zone. I do want to pull the trigger on the oem because am going to feel worry free lol :fro:

New hoses and clamps will run you another $30-40...you'll want to replace them while you have it all apart. Another $20-40 for new fluid.....figure in your time and $325 might not be horrible if it includes EVERYTHING.....but it all depends on you. :) Good luck.

$325 is just the radiator I already have a gallon of coolant :) and I don't plan on replacing my hoses for now

TYC is hit or miss. I had really good luck with one and then the next one fit like sh*t. I also ordered a TYC on eBay and a Koyo arrived. Go figure.
 
I just ordered a KOYO C1774 from Radiator express. This unit is actually for a Tacoma, is a 2 row and is 2 inches shorter. I did alot of research and it should bolt in fine. I will have to modify the shroud a little to work.

If you order a KOYO online, be mindful. I have seen alot of folks who ordered what they thought was a KOYO only to end up with something "equivalent" from a seller. It happens alot in the Cruiser world. I actually called KOYO and found out who there local dealer was and called them directly. They called KOYO and got me the exact model that I was looking for.

IF you choose to go KOYO I would highly recommend you make a few calls and make sure you are getting what you want. There are a ton of them out there and ultimately it comes down to your call and your budget.
 
Agh! :confused: I don't know what to do I can't find the koyo rad anywhere besides the link above on that eBay listing and I have bad experience with them so I dont know

Aren't you in Southern California? We have everything here. I bought Koyo from my local Radiator shop for years. I know I paid a little more, but when I need help, they help me!

Yup I am :) Your right I should check with a local shop. Do you remember how much you paid for it man?
 
Out of curiosity, are you sure it's your radiator that's leaking? Caps and hoses are much more likely to leak than a radiator, IMO.

Replacing the rad but not your 260k hoses seems silly to me.
 
If you are wondering who to call to get a KOYO, then call them first and let them tell you who to call. As I mentioned, getting a genuine KOYO in the aftermarket is hit or miss. Local will make sure you get what you want and you can look at it before you take it home.

And x2 on the hoses and cap, you are in there, so may as well swap them too.

Am pretty sure it's my radiator it already has a crack going across under the cap and yeah I should change the hoses as well

The one I ordered from ebay arrived yesterday in a Koyo box. I'll pop the box open and confirm. Any markings to verify it is the real deal, or will it say Koyo on it?

That sounds like great idea man thanks! :) that way I don't have to worry on not getting an original one. I was looking online :keyboard: and they are located here in cali not to far from me hopefully its less than a toyota one :) I will give them a call on monday
