Radio / Climate Control disply light out on 1 side

.... I've pulled the unit out about 2-3 inches...but can't see where I can just pull a bulb and replace. Guess the whole thing needs to be detached and pulled apart? Maybe I'm missing something. Tips?

My local dealership told me that they can replace individual bulbs in these units as mine was flickering on the day I took it in for an alignment. Shouldn't need to replace the whole unit. Sorry I can't give detailed information on how to fix it...

there's a screw hidden behind the pop out door above the cup holder, remove screw, pry panel out. HVAC panel is held on by 4 clips. Remove wiring harness. Look on the back you will see the bulbs. They are like 2 bucks at the dealer or you can upgrade to 4mm "Neo" LEDS which have an integrated resistor.

there's a screw hidden behind the pop out door above the cup holder, remove screw, pry panel out. HVAC panel is held on by 4 clips. Remove wiring harness. Look on the back you will see the bulbs. They are like 2 bucks at the dealer or you can upgrade to 4mm "Neo" LEDS which have an integrated resistor.

I'm sure this is covered somewhere on this forum, but I'm guessing you need to remove the old bulb and solder the new one in? Is it as easy as that? I'm not very good at soldering, but it seems like something I need to know how to do well for this. About half of my lights are gone, including the fan knob and the knob for floor, face, defrost, etc. settings.

no you just twist the old one out and pop a new one in if you're getting a factory replacement

As zak stated...just get a new bulb. And a simple search will find plenty of threads on this topic. :banghead:

It's a five minute job if you get the bulb and socket from Toyota.

I am confused on whether or not this requires a bulb...my light is out above the climate controls and my dealer says I need the whole LED panel replaced ($800). I have a 2006 4R. Any tips on what is accurate?

I would find another dealer. There are 3 or 4 small bulbs that light that panel. If you buy the bulbs from Toyota they come with a socket. They are $3-4 ea. you can buy just the bulb from Radio Shack for $1-2.

It's a five minute job to replace them. Do a search to find the steps to remove the panel

I ordered my bulbs online. There are many sources. Get extras more seem to go out once you pull the unit.
