I finally got a radio installed in my 04. It really wasn't too bad. I got the Clarion cx609 due to the bluetooth and double-din look. I'm really glad I went with the couble-din since it looks pretty stock The LED's change to 768 different colors, so I have it color matched for now as well.

I have the usb cable snaked through the dash to the pocket below the climate control so I can just pull out the cable from there when I want to use a USB drive with it.

I'm really loving the bluetooth. I can talk rolling along at 40 with the windows down and it's clear on the other end. Another cool thing is that (at least with my DroidX) I can stream music from the phone over bluetooth... no more using the aux cable or usb connection (although it has both).

Wow! That looks really good. Im just curious how much that cost you? I might want one myself. The bluetooth music streaming sounds like a good idea because then there's no need for messy cables in my truck anymore.
 
it was about 315 shipped from crutchfield with the install kit included and all that...

I love the fact that it just automatically connects when it sees the phone (when you're in the car and it's on) You have to do nothing... love it!
 
The sound is excellent actually, The one problem I found is the signal strength on the tuner isn't as good as stock (not bad, just not quite as good at locking in stations), but especially when plugged into bluetooth or aux devices it sounds awesome.
 
Just got some, I was waiting for night time. I may be able to match it a little better if I tweak it some (it's fully adjustable RGB):

That looks great. I bet it is much more enjoyable than the factory deck. I will have to check out Crutchfield - as I cannot seem to find a Scion T1809 anywhere.
 
thanks for the pics! Is there an external microphone or anything like that for the bluetooth, or is everything internal?
 
It's an external mic that is mounted onto the top of the A pillar plastic (easiest to fish it there and mount). I can talk with the windows down at 40 and it sounds like a regular speaker phone... no wind noise.

The USB also comes off the back of the radio, so it's fished down to the cubby below the climate control. It fills that compartment, but I never used it anyways.
 
I thought this would be useful to anyone installing an aftermarket radio.

Well, after finding that I had bad receprion on the radio, I found this thread:

I ended up ordering:
Metra 40-UV43 Y-cable
Metra 40-GM10 adapter

I thought about what they're saying, but think that I'll need the power to the antenna booster (black wire bundled with the antenna wires) and use the Y adapter as the power booster is in the rear of the car which I gather is the smaller plug... seems I'll have to do both, but I'll see when I'm in there next week.
 
I just ordered this exact radio. I chose this radio because I didn't need NAV or a DVD. Were you able to use the Toyota 4runner In-dash Receiver kit that Crutchfield has? Were you able to improve your radio reception? I also ordered the Clarion XM setup.

Clarion CX501

I just installed a Clarion CX501 which I believe is similar to the CX609.

Does anyone know how to install individual phone numbers to these Clarion units?

I figured out how to upload the contacts list from my phone, but the problem is that it only uploads 100 numbers into storage and I've got about 200 in my phone. So, I'd like to delete some numbers and add some others. The manual explains how to delete individual numbers from the phonebook, but it does not explain how to add individual numbers.
 
From what I remember I was able to select only the numbers that I wanted in my phone. My phone has the option to check only the numbers that I want to send. Even though I sent the numbers that I wanted, I don't use the contact list I created for the radio. I find it distracting to run through it on the radio, I just select a number from my phone and the radio takes over.
 
Looks sweet, any chance it's Sirus ready? It has all the features I want, but I would like to get sat radio if possible. Not too big of a deal but would be nice.

Regarding the question about being Sirius ready, the CX501 model is both satellite radio ready and HD ready. I'm not sure about the CX609 model.
 
After a couple days of looking online and in town, I found a refurb just like yours for $194 shipped 2nd day air!!! It was from sonicelectronix.com. I was sold when I went back an read that yours streams music, so many of the "bluetooth built in" models do not stream bluetooth. I'm very pleased with the way yours looks, and after seeing how small the compartment was under a single din, I figure for 200 bones, I can't go wrong. It'll have higher wattage and better sound the the JBL and I've always been a fan of Clarion.

@Galactic_4: Sorry to post on an old thread, but I'm hoping you, (Cain), or someone else can give me some advice. I just installed a Clarion CX501, which is the 2011 version of your CX609, and wanted to see how you set up your HPF, LPF, Bass center freq and Bass Q?? Any advice on how it sounds would be much appreciated.
