Oh, 2010... I don't think Toyota was using "Entune" as of yet at that time but if you have a navi, it still had a processor and operating system; I'm just at a loss for the info we have now about their system. It should still RESET it's parameters back to the factory protocols as with any REBOOT!

For those of you who want to see the '10 to 2013 Navi wiring

For those of you who would like to use 'VISUAL' assistance to locate the fuses that protect/energize your headunits:

See (below) the RED and BLUE arrows on the center right-hand side; the Blue arrow acknowledges the Accessory circuit portal (marked ACC) at the headunit. It's function is intermittent: Hot when ON or in START, and protected by a 7.5A fuse. This circuit is de-energized when the vehicle is off. You can follow this Gray wire across the diagram to line number 8, where it leaves the page; you can ignore the hand written arrows on the left-side, N/A.



Next, they both pick up on the adjacent page below, wires numbered 8 and 9;



Here, the Gray wire (number 8) goes to the top of the page where it connects to a 7.5A fuse; as highlighted by the blue arrows. If you follow the RED arrow, it too starts at the hu (marked B+), travels across the diagram page (Blue wire #9) and follows the path that ends at the 30A amp fuse.

Here's the 30A Amp Fuse location marked by the red arrow.



I'm hoping that by pulling the 30A fuse and draining this circuit for a minimum of 4 hrs, the headunit will reboot, deleting corrupt files and allowing an O.S. update (5.1) to take place. Rgds!

The Party mode tweak (Non JBL)

Somehow being on this subject today and thumbing through these older threads made me realize that some of you guys who have the 2010 through 2013 4Runners may still be using the "Party mode" system in it's stock platform and not know that there's an alternative if you have the (NON JBL) version.

So I'm leaving this thread here just in case you may want to modify/improve on the sound of the audio and not spend "ANY MONEY" to do it. Well, I left the fuse out overnight and just plugged it back in. It didnt reset my presets. Still have the same "check antenna" message. Also, [MENTION=83083]rigtec[/MENTION], just to clarify, I do not have a nav system. Just a regular head unit.

Okay UBWine09,

Do this... pull the "30A AMP" fuse out and turn on the radio/audio system; IT SHOULD NOT COME ON! ...is that the case?? Can you do that now: "This is just to be sure that you're pulling out the proper fuse"... there is no way that you're removing the 30A AMP fuse and still preserving the radio presets!! Can you do that test now??

I wasn't aware that you didn't have a navi system [MENTION=208622]UBWine09[/MENTION] , BUT it shouldn't matter, you should ABSOLUTELY lose your radio presets if you pulled the right fuse!!

I absolutely pulled the correct fuse. I will try it again though.

There's been a bit of confusion in ringing this minor audio system bug out; which I'll gladly take responsibility for cause I should have noted the year and trim level of both of your 4Runners "...BEFORE" studying any of the wiring diagrams!

UBWine09: I just realized that this is your very first post... "Welcome to the forum and the very best to you and yours during these extra special Holidays; it's been a pleasure!" Mike, if you pull your 30A AMP fuse out and then attempt to turn on your audio system, you should have NO AUDIO OPERATION at that time: (please tell me that it does not come on; UBWine09's was on but I'm hoping that he tells me that he had pulled the wrong 30A fuse... I mean, we are using the same wiring diagram?? Please let me know!

I did pull out the correct 30a fuse. There was no power to my radio.

How long did you leave the fuse out this time... "See the reason for the HOT AT ALL TIMES fuse is for the memory circuit e.g., presets, history logs, temporary files...etc". So assuming that it is the right fuse, how does the system maintain it's radio preset logs...(rhetorical question)?

Perhaps on the older (NON-Navi) audio systems, they may store info longer than the typical four hour hold time or, there could be an additional constant power source feeding that HU... the wiring diagrams that I posted here is for the 2011 4Runner so the 2010 W/O navigation could be different.

...I'm thinking that the ones with Nav and the ones W/O Nav are different; they may be using two different type of processors to begin with...

I was definitely going to suggest that just in case I can't find a 2010 SR5 Radio wiring diagram W/O Navigation (don't forget to write down the preset stations before you disconnect the battery)! ...in the meantime I'll do a google search for that diagram; it should be available!

My guess would be four hour min; this gives Toyota service techs time to make some repairs or replace batteries without losing vehicle history log data!

Well I finally had a chance to disconnect my battery today. I removed both terminals for about 4 hours 15 minutes. Just hooked everything back up and im getting the same error. Also, radio presets are still saved on radio...

Have a feeling its the antenna(shark fin) ! Something messed up there , when I re-subscribed to Sirius no matter how many times did the refresh nothing ! So the threads/posts on guy doing a low profile antenna to replace fin because of their roof racks & bam found a Corolla one with the 3 prong connector perfect service ever since !!!
