Radio or Speaker issue?

Hello everyone!

I originally picked up my 2007 SR5 with non-jbl stock radio and speakers before college, and replaced the stock HU with an Alpine deck. During college the radio was stolen and I put the stock HU back in.

Recently my front speakers started going out. First the the FR, then FL... then the FL speakers came back on! The FL speakers kept switching on and off, but the FR speakers never came back on. I was told the issue was probably the wiring harness, so since the whole dash had to come off anyways, I decided to upgrade my HU to a new Pioneer VHX-2800BS.

Best Buy offered free install with 119+ purchase last week so I took it there. Initially the the new HU sounded great and all speakers worked. I did not that not all the HU settings were available to change (like reset was greyed out). Today, all front speakers went out again!! Then the FL speakers came back on and went out again.

Does anybody know why this might be happening.. is it not so farfetched that all front speakers would be experiencing such issues?

Thank you!

Wiring ... could be at the HU, door jams, speakers. Only way to find out after verifying it's not the settings is to take panels off and inspect connections and wiring. Start with any splices that were performed during install. Are the speakers stock?

The speakers are stock. I was thinking of getting new speakers as well but that is alt of work for me to start researching. (I research products for weeks before buying them lol) Is there anything about wiring that could make certain settings on the HU unavailable?

When the unit was set up I noticed it was on Demo mode, so I factory reset the unit but some setup screens didnt prompt (like networked speakers vs standard), and after reset lots of settings arent available still, like the reset button and certain sound settings - I had to do a hard reset with the reset hard button, not software.

Thanks,

I had a similar issue with my GX, and it turned out that the electrical tape around the soldered wires on my front speakers came off and was touching the metal on the door frame...so suggest you check your door speaker wiring.

Thank you!! Since it is happening to both front speakers, is there one spot this can be happening in the wires.. or is it more likely to be happening in two separate instances at the same time?

Tough to tell in your case, but in mine, I looked at the wiring on the doors. suggest you start with that first; it's not that hard to take the panel off the doors.
