I am very happy with it. I use the hands free quite often, and I stream Iheart radio daily on my commute, and am happy with the quality. At some point I may add another amp, and replace the stock speakers, but for now, the current amp + sub and stock speakers is sufficient.

Online it says no pre amp out puts, how do you have your amp hooked up? Is there a designated sub out rca? Sorry all the questions, I just really like the simplicity of that unit and how it looks close to stock

Not OP, but the FH-X720BT has two pre amp RCA outputs.

Yes, it has Pandora capability built in.

Added the Pioneer AVH-4100NEX, the sound quality is night and day difference IMO even with the stock non-JBL speakers - btwn the extra power and the graphic equalizer it really livens things up - and the Apple CarPlay and Pandora are nice features that I'm enjoying. Here's a link to BestBuy's info on the 4100 - I would highly recommend it:

Pioneer avh5800. So very similar to what you were looking at. I love it. If you have the money, definitely look into the Nex series from pioneer, also crutch field made it extremely easy and I got their CRUX-Swrty wiring harness that also maintains steering wheel controls

Can this allow for apps to be installed or swapped out, or alternatively be hacked? Specifically, can you run Google Maps or Waze instead of crappy Apple Maps?

not sure about hacking apps but I think you need an android to run google maps on it

I love it. I cut a piece of wood to fit, covered it in foam, and gorilla glued 2 magnets to the foam then to the back of a cheap iPad case.

I currently have the Clarion CX501 that I bought new back in 12' for my F150. I did not want a touchscreen and lived how this one had built in microphone, streamed bluetooth music, etc... it has worked great until I got my Galaxy S6 Edge. My music skips though bluetooth, but phone works fine. It worked fantastic with my previous HTC One. Called Clarion and they said the Bluetooth radio in the S6 is just too advanced for the head unit.

So now I'm upgrading to the new CX505. I'm telling you, these units are nice they look stock, and I have never had an issue with phone connecting automatically, LEDS are customizable to match interior, seperate Subwoofer volume. Just all around great unit.

What dash kit is that? I had to cut mine to make it usable.

Pioneer AVH-3600

Was the least expensive double-din unit with BT and HD radio (at least when I bought it last year). As you can see, I also wired in a backup camera, which has worked great.

Overall I like it. It sounds great, and the BT integration with my Android phone works like a champ for phone calls and Pandora streaming. My only gripe is that the volume control buttons are a bit of a PITA. In hindsight, I should have spent a bit more to get a HU with a good old-fashioned rotary knob for volume and tuning.
