Rampage Light Bar - Mounting Options

Could anyone tell me if they know where the Rampage Dakar light-bar mounts?

Looking at the info I've found online it look like it mounts in the same spot as the OEM skid plate from Toyota, which I already have installed.

I have four PIAA 510 Series lights just begging to be mounted on my 06 and I don't want to order the Rampage if it mounts in the same spot as the skid plate.

.....unless anyone could suggest a way to mount them both off the same location on the frame??

It mounts on the frame on the inside (engine side) of the bumper. You use stock bolt locations to mount it to the frame itself-and then connect your two "plates" or bracket pieces together to get the bracket reaching outside the grill. I had to do minor dremmeling to get the bar to come through the plastic bumper insert, but not much. Below is a pic from when I mounted mine..

Once you get the kit, check it out and mess around with all the brackets, it really is self explanatory except for the bumper insert trimming. If you have any questions ask away because I have the bar and love it.

can i see a full frontal shot and maybe a side view...i'm also considering that bar. Other than a full arb that's the only one that i've seen that doesn't impair the approach angle...all the chrome ones that i see on here kill the front approach angle on already hindered long front bumper.

thanks

Do you have a pic with it all done ?

don't mean to hijack, but i just wanted to give another option:

<a href="http://www.defianttruckproducts.com/display_part.php?prt=81">Defiant Light Bar</a>

The pictures on the website are of BlairB's 4Runner.

if you want additional pictures (i.e. mounting points, side view, etc) let me know.

i should be more specific, front and side view would be great. Lookin at the two light bar. Might not even put lights on right away, but love the look of both bars.

thanks

As you can see from my signature, might have to do a little flat black modification...is it painted or powdercoated out of the box?

The bar is pretty solid. powdercoated out of the box. the finish isn't really shiny. I live in shady neighborhood so having the bolts behind the bumper is a plus.

what bar is that r3dh3ad84? has an upper bar...that's EXACTLY what i want...it has the lower like the others but then the upper as well. I WANT YOUR BAR...TELL ME WHERE TO PURCHASE THAT!!! BTW, love your rig, i love the black, all black look

anyone know if you can paint over powdercoat? looks glossy to me and all my accents and wheels are flat. I guess i could sand it and prime and paint it flat...coolest bar i've seen for a 4runner. I hate those that cover the headlights and what not, hit a deer and do even more damage, plus just don't look as funcional. and i hate those that go down almost under the front of the bumper...kills approach angle. I'm sold!!!!! especially if i can pull of a flat black look.

Hi montanaT4R....yes, that is the same bar. It looks slightly different because the pic on the site shows it on a Ford F series.

You could sand it down and paint if you wanted but the powder coating would be a better protectant against rust, etc, IMHO, then sanding and repainting.

Just a heads up with the rampage dakar light bar, it has been reported to rust out fairly quickly. A guy over at the fj blue room had rust go right through it and had to reweld it multiple times until it was too far gone and he just dumped it completely.

I am not trying to bash that bar, just wanted to give you a heads up. It was the bar I wanted until I found out about the rust issue.

ouch, thats not good. I didn't find any bad reviews or anything when I was researching that bar. Bad thing about it is that I like the height of the lights on that bar once they are mounted which is why I'm not going with the defiant bar. I know not much of a difference but I'm picky

Hopefully I wont have any rust issues

I like the light placement on the dakar since you can tell where the front of the bar is. I too read a post on fj forums describing the dakar rust issue. <a href="http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/interior-exterior-visual-tech/62650-home-made-light-bar-dakar-style-keep-simple-stupid-kiss.html">Dakar story</a>

not sure how widespread it is though. i'm sure you'll be fine. Good luck!!
