Honeymoon might be over...

So i bought this 4 runner a couple of weeks ago and now im noticing a few interesting things. First off my right turn signal goes wonky from time to time. sometimes it works fine, others not at all, sometimes fast and sometimes a mix of all 3. My search results lead me to the conclusion that this is a little common and its my turn stalk assembly which is apparently pricey and im assuming only available from the dealer as i cant seem to find one on the instanets.

I have also noticed my Auto Door locks don't seem to function all the time either, again my searching leads me to the conclusion that the entire fuse junction box is bad? and again is a dealer part that cost 500+ dollars and your first born.

Im really hoping i didn't just get a truck that will cost me a thousand or so in electrical issues. Can anyone else chime in with their experience on how often this issue occurs and if im barking up the right tree? Also can anyone shoot me in the direction of a decent cheaper place where i can find parts instead of the Stealership? Thanks all.

What year is your 4runner?

Do your door locks only not work when using the driver door? Have you tried using the other doors? It could just be a bad switch. (The drivers "master switch" is under $75 on eBay for a used one, cheaper at a junk yard I am sure. To remove the switch pry up on the front of it, and slide it forward.)

For the turn signal, I am sure you can find a stalk on a 4runner getting parted out for pretty cheap. However, I would not go and buy one before a few more people chime in with some trouble shooting tips. Unfortunately, that's over my head. (The switch is under $100 on eBay for a brand new one.)

Thanks Wilson. I played with the locks a little more and spoke with a friend that works at a Toyota stealership and he said its possible that they got disabled and asked me if the truck lost power at any time......well i did pull the EFI relay to do the fuel filter the other day. I checked and everything else about the doors locks seem to work fine. I can lock or unlock all doors from either pass or driver and all switches work fine as well.

I'm going to try to re-enabled the auto door locks as im fairly sure there is a key sequence of some sort to do so.

As for the wiper stalk i do hope more chime in but it does seem rather cut and dry. Im not going to pull the trigger though till i get a few more opinions. Might see if i can put a Meter on it this weekend and see if that tells me anything.
