You know, I am going to go out on a limb here, and say that I like the wood grain. Everyone on here bashes it left and right, but it looks good (other than the fact that mine is delaminating, though it still looks better than plastic). It is even better that the wood trim in 3rd gen 4runners is ACTUALLY wood, not that cheap imitation wood. To me, all plastic trim looks cheap. Wood grain is very common in a certain type of vehicle... luxury vehicles. You don't get real wood grain in a cheap vehicle. IMO, the grey interior is fugly and cheap looking. I would have rather seen an all black trim instead of the grey trim. Grey pplastic must be extra cheap, because I can't think of another reason why so many car companies would use it.

For those who wheel heavily, yes, I can see why you want the plastic instead of the wood; because you specifically don't want the luxury vehicle look and feel.

Ripcord, glad to hear you decided not to swap. You were going to downgrade on alot of things. If you don't like the hood scoop and like to wrench, you could always sell the hood to someone here and do the taco front end conversion. That is the only front end mod I would trade my hood scoop for.

I can't say I blame you, but if you hardly ever use it and you've never really needed it, why is it so important to have it? I kinda felt that way about my lack of a sunroof, but when I had sunroofs in other vehicles, I barely ever used them. So I decided "who cares" and bought my truck anyways and have never missed it.

That's just it. It's really not necessary from a functionality standpoint. But I'm the type that is willing to wait and work for exactly what I want, even if it doesn't make a lot of sense. Sometimes it's a good thing. Sometimes it isn't. I wasn't under a lot of pressure to find my 4runner so I waited until I found the one I really wanted. That's all. Also, I think it might help a little bit if/when I decide to sell it.

To the OP, would I trade my 160,000 mile 4runner with an elocker for yours? (Ask me and find out... :naughty

Nelson, I like the limited interior also. The tan and wood go very well together, but i hate leather. I would have looked for some tan cloth seats to swap in as well, but then it would look cheap... I dunno.
Glad I decided not to. Would have been a lot of work to make it come out right.

Like I said earlier, this is the stupid stuff that happens when I have time to think. I just need to get back home and take a drive, that'll set me strait.

How good condition are your leathers? They are a pretty precious commodity if you were to sell them. I didn't have leathers until my current 4runner and I always thought I would prefer cloth, but I think the leather is really nice.

How can you not like the Limited interior? Leather and wood trim look classy, I wish I would have held out for a limited now that I look back. The standard cloth and black trim is the same interior Toy has been using since 1979 - its very Spartan but I put up with it because its really important since the drivetrain/engine is what's most important.

But it would be worth finding a supercharged one and swap that onto yours. Supercharger for free leaves you $2000+ to through airlocker and onboard air on your runner. NICE! THE ONLY WAY TO GO IMHO!

Thats what i'm thinking now. Find her the limited she wants, but one that has a S/C and swap the S/C into my sport.
Then a taco elocker retrofit down the road.

Now I just have to find one..

Just tell your mom you have a finders fee of a supercharger. :thumb3: It will be hard to find a locked limited with a supercharger already installed. I like the idea of a supercharger though.:guitar3:

Well we decided to find her an 01-02 so she can have TRAC and heated seats. So no locker. Should still be very tough to find one.

And thats just the line I used on her. Said it would be my commission.

Yeah I forgot about that. You might have better luck then. Go for the Pearl White Limited. They are a sweet. There is a 2wd one lifted with 285 around the corner from me and it is really nice.

I personally love that color. She likes the mellinium silver, thundercoud, dorado gold (#1), white pearl, and imperial jade mica. So theres no going wrong with her, haha.

Man oh man, I'm glad I'm not the only one out there! Why can't we just be happy with having a perfectly great vehicle that we all know is very reliable.

I for one jumped on the opportunity to own a 4runner and got one that wasn't necessarily what I wanted. I was searching for a black sport 4wd with low miles and in perfect condition. Well I ended up with the black sport however it is 2wd, higher miles and not the greatest condition... not the worst but you get the idea.

Ever since I brought her home I've been toying with the idea of trading her for a different one maybe a limited but at least with 4wd. Then the other little voice in my head creeps in and says "you have a great truck already all the things that are wrong with it aren't major or detrimental to the mechanical soundness of the vehicle, just keep it!" I don't even need 4wd and it would probably cause me more problems seeing as I would only use it maybe 1-2 times a year.

So even though I still search the classifieds, craigslist and the internet for other Runners I've pretty much made my mind up on keepin' the one I have and getting her back to factory new condition.

I like the Gold on 4runners. I hated it on my 95 when I first got it and now I really like it. It works well with black. I doubt you will find an 01-02 with a supercharger, but sometimes it works out. Oh man the craigslist hunt. Such a relief it is over, but I always check still.

I found mine (2001) on C-List with the S/C, 7th, all the exhaust goodies, 1 owner, low mileage, full records... it can and does happen. If you see one, don't hesitate.

We have the money set aside to pay cash for it. All I have to do is find one, I've been online looking all day.
After I find it we can work on selling her honda.
