Rarest 3rd gen of them all?

My gf’s may not be rare, but it’s definitely weird. 1996 3.4, 4x4, 5-speed, e-locker SR5. Leather interior, sunroof. No roof rack, no running boards, no fender flares, in evergreen pearl.

Had an off all pop up on marketplace right now. Normal stuff you'd expect from a base-ish model, 4 cylinder, 5 speed, 2wd, gray painted.bumpers... then it has the rare option of manual windows.

What really threw me for a loop is a couple of options that are usually reserved for high option SR5s. It has gold badges, which I'd never seen on a base model, and the weirdest part, leather. Could this be the only set of manual window leather door panels in existence?

Maybe someone swapped seat back and cushions onto a manual base...
maybe we will never know

It was a dealer option, so they most likely had them do it upon purchase. As well as the emblems.

Thats the same base model wood trim that I have. Only a few pieces on mine are fading to that yellow. That's the clear epoxy that protects the wood that turns yellow. Lots of sun baking on this one.

I'd say the rarest is any 4runner that was bought new, parked and never driven with under 100 miles on the clock.

There's a couple of guys with Glacier Metallic on here, and I mean like 2. I like it and the Autumn Blaze. If I ever repaint my truck it will be a rare Toyota color or something different all together like that Metallic Blue one that was for sale in the classifieds recently. I think it was an old Supra color.

It's 50/50. The SR5 could be ordered from factory with leather. I have it. It looks exactly like Limited leather but manual adjust. My other SR5 has aftermarket dealer-installed leather with the Moon Mist. Not as nice quality IMO, but it's unique af. Pretty much blue leather.

I was at an Aston Martin dealer the other day and these guys were admiring this blue-grey leather interior like it was the most avant-garde thing ever. I was like "Dude, my old ass 4Runner had this in 1996". I think the Moon Mist interior was ahead of its time now. Look at the newest Lincoln Navigator "Yacht Club" package. Blue-gray interiors are making a comeback.

I saw a 2WD green 99 Highlander in a junkyard once. No locker, automatic trans, 3.4.

Probably somewhat rare to spring for the $$$ on the Highlander option package, but then go with 2WD.

Just not really desirable.

'98 SR5, 5spd, factory locker, Stellar Blue Pearl, gray cloth. Mint, bone stock, newly acquired.

I know this color was offered over all the 3G years, but I almost never see them around. Maybe once a year, even in Colorado. How rare is it? I can't find any good production numbers charts like I can for other vehicles.

Any links to a good 3g production numbers chart, incl. colors? Searched here on T4R.org

Here is a 02 Badlands Edition that has spent its whole life in Texas. Yes, it’s a Canadian model that a dealer in Austin specially ordered for a customer. I have it now.
