It looks like some rats got in the engine and started chewing on the coolant hoses which resulted in a head gasket failure. I have one quote for about $4300 in repairs (includes WA sales tax of 9.5%).
It is a 2005 V6 SR5 4x4 with 122K on the clock. I would appreciate any thoughts on how to proceed. I see the following choices and I am leaning toward #2 assuming my insurance would cover it. My policy does have comprehensive insurance.
1) Repair it and pay the $4K out of pocket
2) Pull a comprehensive claim on my insurance
3) Sell it as is
4) Repair it myself. I could do it although I am not exactly qualified so it would take me forever and it looks like about $1500 in parts and machining the heads.
