Rattle from skid plates

Does anyone else have any rattle/vibration noises that sound like metal on metal coming from the vicinity of the skid plate that you must remove to get to the oil filter and the one directly behind it that covers where the oil drains out? I had posted a ways back about a noise and I think it stems from those two skid plates or maybe just one but didnt pinpoint it. I removed both and took a drive and the noise I previously heard was not audible...I put them back and of course making sure all the bolts were tight and it came back. I just wanted to see if anyone else had similar noises...thanks

I had a rattle and it was driving me nuts. The dealer had done an oil change but didn't tighten both plates completely.

ok, thanks for the info...i completely removed them and put them back and made sure the bolts were tight, I will see if the noise still exists

Check to see if the skid plate is cracked. I had a crack in my skid plate that originated fromthe hole where the bolt fastens the skid plate to the vehicle.

Surprisingly, the dealer told me that this isn't all that uncommon of a problem. It can happen if the bolt holding the skid plate is torqued too high.
