Rattle In The Driver's Side Door: Is this spring important?

Hey there folks,

I noticed I had a rattle in my driver's side door and decided to open it up to see if I could figure it out. What I found was this spring loose from the mechanism. The window still operates without the spring and the rattle is gone so I figure this was the cause.

Is this spring important to the window regulator? Do I need to figure out how to reinstall it or am I good to leave it out?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I found it hanging from inside the window panel itself and to get in there I actually removed the door handle all together. Does this look like a door handle spring you've encountered?

I may be wrong, but I think it came from the window roll up and it support the window to stay up.

It's been a while since I took my drivers door apart, but I seem to recall a spring like this positioned at the fulcrum of the regulator, performing the job of a counterweight against the weight of the glass.

This seems like the answer! Do you think it is important enough to go through the trouble of taking the regulator out and figuring out how to reinstall the spring? The window still functions.

Could always remove passenger door panel and take a peak inside if curiosity gets the better part of you.

I just googled a manual 3rd gen window regulator and this popped up maybe it’ll help not pull another trim panel off.
