Rattle noise at tranny shifter - 1999 Limited

1999 4Runner Ltd - 230K miles. The Automatic transmission shifter make a rattle noise when driving. There is a small play forward/backwards which does not affect the performance it is just a very annoying ratting noise as you drive. I like to think there most be a bushing or spring which keeps it from rattling which may now be worn out.... at the moment I have a rubber band from the shifter to the Ebrake to prevent the noise. I schematic diagram would greatly help. Cheers!

go under the truck you should see the linkage from the ****er to the trans tighten the bolt should fix the problem

no luck for me tightening that bolt. the problem appears to be(for me at least) the bushing on that linkage.appears on the left in the above pic

make sure that bolt one the right is slide all the way to the right this is the wrong way to positioning it

that helped take a little of the slack out of it but im still getting a side to side wobble.

Have you tried to tighten the bolts that hold the shift assembly to the transmission tunnel? It may just be bolts that have worked their way loose over the years
