Rattle

Okay! I know this is not going to be easy, but here goes. I have a slight rattle somewhere under the dash. Sees like it is coming from about the middle.

The kicker is, this sound started the first time I had to use the heater. I have felt around under the dash and can't find anything loose, but there is a lot of stuff under there. One thing I did find was a tube that was very hot. Don't know if that is normal or not.

Any thoughts????

i had a weird rattle that really only bothered me during the colder months and it was intermittent; really only showed up at stop lights when the engine vibrating would make its way into the cabin. I eventually tracked it down to a plastic warning label wrapped around a wire housing/tube under the passenger seat that would vibrate against the seat frame. I cut it off and the vibrating disappeared. This was on a limited so it may have to do with the power/heated/cooled seat wiring.

I had a rattle coming fro somewhere and found that my tool kit in the back was the reason. I used a chunk of foam to keep it from touching the metal frame and it took care of it.

I never sounded like it was coming from that tool kit but I figured it was worth looking at because it is meant to be removed. I also check the spare tire but that was secure.

I had a rattle once that was caused by a leaf that had somehow got in behind the dashboard from the engine bay. It was in this vent thing that was blowing it about.

Very weird.

Don't think it is the blower. The rattle is there whether the blower is on of off, and it was not there when the blower was on for AC. Only started after I had to turn on the heat.

Guess I'll Let the dealer find it when I get the 5,000 done in a couple of weeks if it doesn't drive me crazy in the mean time.

I had a rattle or more of a squeak right where the windshield meets the dashboard. The weather strip between the windshield and the dash would rub and make a noise/squeak over bumps. I pushed the dash/weather strip down and away from the glass and it fixed the noise.

By the way, once I took the dash apart in my 05 4th gen., I was amazed how well Toyota insulated the clips used to hold parts together. They were covered in plastic/rubber coating to eliminate any rattles. good luck.

I have same thing too. I use my wallet propped against the bottom of windshield and putting pressure on dash and for some reason it eliminates it. But annoying to see my wallet in front while driving

My under dash rattle ended up being the splash guard on my drivers side right above the coilover, the top button clip came out and it was flapping at certain speeds. Sounded like it was inside but nope.

Very nice! I want a CSL air box sooo bad. I'm stock now besides some supersprint mufflers. CSL headers going on this winter.
