Rattling from parking brake area???

Recently tightened up my parking brake in hopes it would get rid of this rattling/ vibration noise? Its definitely coming from the e-brake somewhere because when i pull the handle slightly upwards (before the light comes on), the noise goes away. Anyone else have or had a similar issue?

Im having this exact problem with my 98 and its driving me crazy. especially on the highway. just havent had the time to take a part the center console and start poking around..

I'm having this same issue. High frequency buzz/rattle from I think the e-brake. If I lift up slightly on the handle it goes away. It starts at about 35mph when on the throttle and gets progressively louder with soeed.

Anyone solve this problem? I'm not sure if it's the rivets rattling in the assembly it what. Might be time to replace it.

Takes all of 10 minutes to remove the center console. The black trim piece in front with the ect and window buttons just pulls straight up, a couple of screws later and it's out.

Could just be loose wiring or a loose bolt on the parking brake assembly. Or maybe you dropped a quarter down there and it's rattling.

Had same issue, Did not have to remove center console. Just use a 1/4 inch ratchet, 6 inch extension and I believe it was a 10 mm or 12 mm deep socket. reach through the rubber "flap" above the ebrake handle. If you push it aside with your finger you will see what I mean, there is a nut on the end of the cable there for adjusting tension. I just snugged mine up about a half turn maybe a whole turn and it stopped the buzzing.

I had everything out when I bought the truck to put in vinyl floor and tightened e-brake at that time. Took console out yesterday and drove around feeling around to see what it might be, must be something internal, although there isn't much to the e-brake assembly.

Guess I'll try to find another. I just stuck a rag under the ebrake handle to lift it a hair for now.
