Real time help - ignition won't turn

The wife is stuck about an hour away, she can unlock the steering wheel but the key won't turn to start the truck.

If the key will turn to ACC I can remove the cylinder, right? And start the truck with a screwdriver or something and get her home? It's a '99 5VZE/auto with factory keyless, if it matters.

Might be pure shot in the dark but on my '00 limited there is a little box under the ignition that has a button that is being pressed. I unscrewed it and released the button and was able to turn on the vehicle.
