Two last nagging rumors to dispel about auto-lockers, if any of you lunch-box locker equipped can tell your any experience please!?
1. Somewhere i read / heard that when the throttle is 100% off (going down hill) that engine braking is affected? true / false?
2. How does it act in towing, say going uphill in a corner?
thanks guys!
:lookout:
I've put about 1k miles with my front and rear aussie lockers and I have not noticed any difference in my engine braking down a hill. I've used it several times going down a steep & slippery decline and it felt the same as it did before the locker install.
I've towed 300-400 miles with the lockers and I haven't noticed any difference.
I'm very impressed with the Aussie Lockers. They are pretty quiet and I only notice the sound on rare occasions. Typically in a parking lot when pulling in or out of a spot. I try to avoid U-turns and I've noticed myself making more 3 point turns but I think I subconsciously do it to avoid wearing my tires down.
The only thing I don't like is my steering. I've noticed that when I'm in 4HI the truck will pull to one side at times. I recently experienced this while driving in the snow at about 30-35mph. It could be due to 35's and the stock steering rack, old p/s fluid or my tires being aired down to 5psi.
Overall I'm very happy and quite impressed.
