rear axle sqawk

my 94 4runner has a rear end sqawk which sounds like a rear axle bearing. the gear oil was drained and refilled. water was found in the housing from backing the truck in the water to load and unload my jetski with a hitch hauler. the axle bearings felt bad with the wheels off. i was wanting to replace the axle bearings and seals. one side is leaking anyways. once the axles are out i was going to inspect the 3rd member. i was curious on which bearings and seals to get. was thinking about getting everything from rockauto.com, but deciding which one on their site is a little confusing. where would be the best place to get both rear axle bearings, seals and retainer rings?

been researching replacement 3rd members myself & replacing bearings and such, but still haven't gathered enough intel yet. One source I found was https://www.marlincrawler.com/axle/rear-axle-parts/rear-axle-service-kit-1979-99

highly recommended source from what I gather, guessing it'd be more quality parts then rock auto.

thats perfect exactly what i was looking for and pretty good pricing considering it includes the seals, retainer, bearing and c clip. im still not sure if the 3rd member is bad or not as i havent pulled it apart yet. i feel pretty confident the noise is coming from the right rear wheel bearing though and was planning to do both sides at the same time.

I'd just look for a better axle at a junkyard. They're like 300 if you shop around.

Recently replaced rear axle bearings on 90 Tr4 and found this video very helpful. I did not have an issue with the 3rd member. There are a number of similar video's on 'how to' remove the bearing. I decided to clean the axle and took them to local machine shop who removed and installed new at a reasonable cost, however, the shop would only replace with Toyota parts. Don't believe DIY bearing install would be a problem?

So I finally got the axle bearings, seals, and brake shoes replaced yesterday. both bearings were worn slap out, the driver side brake assembly was full of gear oil when i pulled it apart. luckily for me, i have a buddy that builds auto trannys for a living and we did the work at his shop. made everything 10x easier. the bearings were a pita to press off. also discovered i have factory 4.56 gears in my runner! sr5 im guessing limited with leather, sunroof, cruise, 5spd and 3.0. im guessing he 4.56 is a factory tow package as it has a hitch on it too. took about 6 hrs start to finish not rushing it

Nah a limited package would've probably been an auto. Towing package also usually means 4.88 gears. I, too, have 4.56s, but cloth/no sunroof.

cool thanks for the picture. according to that my truck has every option on it except for the sport package and auto trans. leather, sunroof, ac, rear heat, 31x10.50s, running boards, roof rack, premium radio with 6 speakers, cruise, and power package.

shes been rode hard and put up wet. still runs good at 251k miles. leaks oil and power steering fluid pretty bad, bad enough i dont change the oil, just keep it full and occasionally change the filter haha. im looking at possibly finding a 3.4 to swap in seems like a pretty easy swap from what ive read. the front suspension and trans, transfer case all covered in grease, oil. pretty much all of the rubber bushings, ball joints, everything is done mainly from the fluid leaks. im hoping to do all of it at once while its apart. luckily i dont have to drive it much.
