Rear Bumper Update?

I think Mobtown would benefit by fabricating a bumper that is fully bolt on. Eliminating any cutting or extensive disassembly would make it easier for enthusiasts to buy and install their bumper.

I do like the idea of cutting the crossmember but I could see most potential customers being put off by the idea and looking elsewhere. Same goes for the sides coming up to the taillights.

Personally I would be all for cutting the crossmember as long as it's structural integrity can be duplicated or improved during the bumper install. If theres a way to make it aesthetically flow with the rest of the back end without cutting the bumper and crossmember then I say go for it MobTown.

I completely agree, not everyone is ready to start hacking parts off of their trucks. If they can make a easy kit or just make and ship the bumpers out for customers to bolt on that would be great.

I also think the price point could be much better on this bumper seeing that it's a little bit of a simpler design and doesn't come all the way up the back and sides. If you look at all the other bumper options almost every other gen is cheaper. One reason why 4th gen bumpers have always been so limited is because they require a bit more work when building them with the extra material and R&D having them come up under the lights and then wrap all the way up the sides. Where as every other Gen is pretty much straight across all the way around.

Yeah for sure! With mine a new much thicker cross member gets welded in between the new mounting plates that go on the inner frame rails becoming the new cross member. I'm told that it's much stronger than the stock cross member. But yeah a easy kit at a good price point is definitely the way to go.

We're getting there

If Mobtown is looking for any other testers, I've got a 4th gen or my wife a 5th gen... :D

You all are a little bit of a hike from me, but my sis is out in Salisbury, so I'd have a place to crash at least...just sayin..haha

I didn't realize we had any offroad shops/fabricators in MD. Nice surprise!

Any news or updates? Anything lighter weight would be awesome. I would think a hybrid tube/plate would cut down a bit on weight?

I've been talking to Mobtown. When I have a moment I'll give an update.

I don't have any updated pics but I know that Mobtown has been slammed since the beginning of the year. I did not set a deadline or anything for the bumper or skid plates. I told him to take his time and do it right.

However, just yesterday I received orders to go back to California in a couple of months so I did tell him it will probably need to be completed by early April at the latest. I have to travel across country in May. I have some preventive maintenance to do before then.

I'll try to get Joe to comment on here and add some information or create a new thread with links to ordering the armor he is offering for interested parties.

I need their armor yesterday!!!

My buddy works closely with the guys from Mob Town with his 2nd Gen Taco. I'd be happy to come down from Philly with my 4th Gen to help expedite the armor development. I have prior experience testing for tuning companies

If you're going to be in So Cal you should check out the section when you're in town and settled. We have a very large 4runner presence from San Diego to Los Angeles and typically have a monthly run somewhere.

I'll definitely do that. I was in San Diego for 7 years and now I'll be in Ventura County for at least 4 more. I'm excited to get back on California dirt.
