rear camera install

So today I did my dash lights and radio install. I could not figure out how to put my rear camera on. It mounts right under the license plate bolts. And it says to wire to the rear light. To do this I need access to the back of the hatch (and this is where I'll run the S video cable too I assume. I took the interior panel off then said uggggh as I stared at the window housing and didn't want to risk doing anything wrong in terms of dismantling. Anyone have a writeup on this? And also where to run the video cable afterwards to the dash?

Yeah I've seen those but haven't seen pics of how they route the cable from hatch to dash. I get that it needs to follow the framing but how do u take off all the necessary interiors

Most are just clipped on. Some of them have screws also (like under the doors). When you get stuck you can search around on how to get the specific panel off. They're all fairly easy. To get the rear cargo compartment off you need to remove the parts that are for the tonneau cover.

The worst part from what I've read about is getting the cable through the wire loom going to the rear hatch.

Since there's no write up you should take lots of pics as you go along! It'll make it easier if I do it.

You've probably already seen it but just in case you haven't this thread has some good info. Good luck!

so are they going up through the license plate cover to get to the door interior? that's another thing that isn't specified

I don't see anywhere else you could run it. You may have enough space around the license plate lights

hmm I'll have to explore this more. The coil is in the driver side yet so many people do the passenger side rear light for power then follow the frame on the passenger side. I'll have to look into this more.

so can you take off the interior panel without screwing up the rear window? Most people have been doing it with the window down for other mods. Also, it's awkward trying to do it with the hatch open, but tight and difficult with it closed.
