Rear 'Clunk'

So after I installed my 5100's and superflex rears everytime I go over a curb it makes a huge clunk while the tire is coming off the curb. It sounds like the 5100's are maxing out for a second before they get pressure to compress again.

Is this normal or could it be something else? Aren't shocks supposed to slow the extension?

I'm having the EXACT same problem, except with Sway Away 1.5 rear coils. I posted about it earlier (approx 3 weeks ago). Ive checked and and re-checked everything. Taken it to multiple mechanics and all say everything is in order, yet the sound arises from time to time. All that being said, the sound goes away with a full tank of gas. So this week, I drained my tank to below a quarter of a tank and went over a series of speed bumps multiple times and various speeds. I got some pretty loud "clunks" and one "grind and clunk". After 7-10 times over these things the sound went away....strange I know. I filled her up and I'm currently waiting to test this again once my tank gets lower. I don't know if one of my springs needed to seat better or what; but it only occurred on the rear right side. I will post my results on my original post.

The 5100s can handle up to +2 inches of travel before they max out in extension. If the superlex coils allow more than 2 inches of extra extension over stock then yeah you could be bottoming them out.

Maybe also that the springs are not fully seated yet?

Also double check the upper and lower shock mounts and make sure they are really secure. Even tiny amounts of movement there can make surprisingly BIG noises through the cabin.

I think they might be maxing out. I used all new bushings and also torqued everything to spec so they should shouldn't be moving around.

Hopefully not, but I'm afraid that's my problem as well. Is it on both rear sides? Or just one?

i know it may sound silly, but did you check your rear jack on the driver side? i thought i was starting to have some issues with my icon stg 1 kit, but the clunking just ended up being the rear jack nut was loose!!

Sorry, but what is a jack nut? It is happening on both sides as far as I can tell.

Oh, I was overthinking it. I can tell its coming from suspension components because I can hear it and feel it thud through the truck.

If i grab and wobble the rear tire pretty aggressively in a lateral direction i can hear a small clunk. It happens on both sides but when I say aggressively I'm getting the entire truck to rock pretty good. Is this normal or could this have something to do with the clunk I'm getting?

Is there any way to tell if the shock is maxing out?
