Rear Coil Advice - 2002 SR5 Sport 4WD

Hi guys, IÂ’m looking to put new rear coils on my 02 sr5 4wd and I want to keep it stock height. IÂ’m running Bilstein 5100 up front with original factory springs set on the lowest perch.
I have the rear 5100 shocks but want to decide on what coil to use before I install the new shocks.
Questions-
1- did 02 4 runners have forward rake when new from factory?

2- when I look at Toyota parts on line using Vin number it gives me part no-
48321-35200 but it says for 15 inch wheel and I have 16 inch wheels which I know came on the car from new as my father in law purchased it new.

Then if I donÂ’t enter the vin it gives option for part number 48231-35250 which says for 01-02 limited 4wd with 16 inch wheels.

Does anyone know the difference between the two coils?

If I use the part number that matches the Vin Will it remove the slight rear end sag and give me slight rake forward?

Or if I use the coil for the limited Will it give me a little more lift and possibly greater load capacity ?

The Limited coils will be just fine in your case...15in or 16in wheels won't matter either. Either coil will work but most likely it came with 16in wheels on a '02 4wd SR5...that's the same year 4runner I have.

Most 4runners (Tacomas, Tundras, Sequoias, etc) have some forward rake. I believe they usually do this to keep the front cv axle angles as close to horizontal so they the axle joints wear less.

If it were me I'd order an OME 10mm trim packer for the driver side rear coil while you're at it (OME80PF10) to get rid of that driver's side lean that you'll probably have. It might even take 2 spacers to even things out over time but you won't know until the new springs settle in. Just my .02 and I speak from experience

I have a set of used 2906 (5-6k miles )coils laying around if you think you want to go that route. I went to a 2890, and I won’t be going back to the 906.

It was almost perfect level, just a hair of rake at the 2” front Bilsteins setting. Only issue I had was once I started adding weight and 5 people it was on the Duro bumps to often off-road.

If that’s too much lift height, I think a 99’ rear coil makes sense and rides great.

Ditto on the trim packer if you go the ome route.

The 906s are great honestly. Almost a perfect daily driver/adventure rig spring. It wasn’t until I started throwing all kinds of 4X innovations armor, a bunch of recovery gear, five people in the rig, and a heavy beer cooler before it was inadequate.

It has an excellent spring rate. It’s an awesome first step if your doing some kind of added ride height.

I don’t want to make it sound like the one 906 isnot a good spring because it really is. For an unarmored 4runner, I would absolutely buy it again.

Factory coils with spacer lift in the front, OME shocks all around, 906 coils in the back with 10mm trim spacers. Rides great and works fine!

Camburg offers an Eibach 1 inch lift rear coil (CAM-320026) with a 10% increase in load capacity over stock. Not sure what the load rating is for a stock rear spring though.

I finally decided to go with the tall factory rear coils for the 99, easy install and it gave me exactly 1”1/4 lift in the rear. Definitely ride’s better, paired with the bilstein 5100’s , and no more saggy rear end.
