Rear diff cost...?

I've found a wrecked 4runner with a stock rear diff locker. Truck has 100k miles on it. Any idea what I should offer the guy for it?

Do some research and see what has sold. Just feel the person out and make a reasonable offer. Where is it located and i will let you know what it goes for!!!

500 is the going rate but you could offer lower.

Sweet. If this thing has the same gears as mine I can just bolt it on, wire it, and be done, correct? If it has different gears I'll have to change out my front gears to match, right?

Not quite if you have an open diff now you will need to modify your current diff to accept the locker, unless you plan on getting the whole rear axle end to end. THEN it would be plug and play, again unless your front is geared differently. MOST automatics have 4.30's most manuals had 4.10's but the only way to know is the tire to axle revolution counts.

I paid $520 for my hub to hub e-locked axle with 120K miles. Aside from the wiring, it was straight bolt in.

So... more than likely this 4runner has 4.30's. Couldn't I just take his front diff as well and throw it in mine so that the front and rear match? I would imagine it's all just plug and play.... would my half axels work in there? I have a manual, his rig is an automatic....

Yep, you could take the front clamshell too. Worst case you would just have to swap your ADD actuator onto the new front diff, depending on what years you're working with. Also, the manual vs. automatic won't make a difference.
