Rear diff destroyed, anybody got a clue?

Ooh, shiny! That's all, like, glittery and stuff. I think it's bad when your gear oil glitters.

I don't think you're looking for a 4.10 rear diff. With those tires I think you oughta be looking for a 4.30 diff and a front to go with it. The Great 4Runner In The Sky is telling you it's time to regear.

The stock elocker ring gear is weak and a common breakage, especially when larger tires are thrown on it. Like KidV said, I recommend changing the gear ratio. An aftermarket ring gear should be a little stronger than stock.

I would not be so worried about the ring gear. More than likely any damage would be done to the spider or carrier gears. This is what I broke in my front diff and have seen multiple pics/reports of breaking but have yet to see a broken ring.
