Rear Differential gone?!?!

I've seen a couple broken ones: one due to pulling logs while in reverse and one due to different size wheel/tires on the rear axle (that burns it up quickly).

Those gears will take very little load in reverse.

Only time it's every in reverse is to back up. I've never tried to pull logs with it lol. The only load it's ever had in reverse is backing a trailer up..... And considering it has the towing package that shouldn't be a problem.

But anyways, a Camry can't hop over curbs. And a Camry doesn't have 8 cylinders. And trust me, a Camry will do better than 14-16 MPG. :biggrin2:

You have to look at car ownership as a kind of rental agreement anyway, they are a depreciating asset. You buy it, you maintain, buy gas oil tires batteries, and then you sell it for less. Unless you own a classic you will never get more out of it than you put in it.

I found one for $325 on Craigslist. It was rolled in an accident. Hopefully it isn't gone by tomorrow, because it is the only one I've found.

And yep. That's how owning a vehicle is. But when stupid shit is happening and there's 4 break jobs in 50-55k miles there's a problem.

And I can't sell it as is because I still owe $2,000 more than what it's worth. Carmax is surprisingly working with me to get me into this http://m.carmax.com/vehicle/10749815

are you saying the tires weren't turning, but the driveline was?
if so, then never mind, yes that makes sense.

And something else must be going on to require that many brake jobs in the ATL in that time.

Maybe it is a good idea to get a new car that will be easier to maintain and stay on top of since the 4runner proved to be a bit much.

The gears on a T4R are good the rear end tubes not so much. With the brake problems and bent wheels I would guess the one of the axle tubes is bent or the flange that holds the lug studs is bent putting stress on everything.

Since that makes sense and seems legit (lol) instead of just replacing the gears I guess I'll try to find a complete rear end from another truck and just do it all at once.

And while I'm at it hopefully I can find a set of SR5 w/ the appearance package or Sport rims.

It's just going to sit until I find the money to get it fixed. Some reason I still can't bring my self to get a Camry. I've driven a SUV since I've been driving
