Rear facing dash camera ideas?

Hey everyone, proud 2018 limited owner here.

I am looking for ideas in installing a normal dash cam, but rear facing by the back window. Obviously the suction mount won't work since the window goes up and down. Just looking for ideas. I was thinking off of the rear pillar or something off the ceiling. Or a long arm suction cup from the side window.
Anyone sucess fully do it before?
I would run power from the console below and snake it up.

Not trying to sway anone one way or the other, but my fwd facing dash cam helped me in an accident I was involved in over the summer. Shows an aggressive driver passing me as I was changing lanes on the right. She probably dipped 2 wheels to get around and then clipped the front of my car and T boned an SUV. Insurance is in litigation with their insurance now and the video is the evidence.

i stuck a piece of flat aluminum to the headliner, 1" x 4" or so. and stuck my camera to that.

firm believer of rear facing dash cams. Got rear ended twice, once waiting for a turn, and other at a red light, both drivers tried to say i turned into the lane.. Camera showed other wise.

i show that to my buddies all the time. catches the dumb stuff drivers do, have a separate video showing this same car nearly sideswiping a van 30 seconds earlier. This video was taken from one of my other cars. I have dual front/rear dash cams in all 3 vehicles i have, and in the 2 that i sold to my friends

I would lose that real quick on some of the trails we hit.

I used a 3M (GoPro style) foam sticky to mount mine on the upper part of the D-Pillar. I need to find a smaller camera and mount the door/gate itself, but that hasn't happened yet.

my scangauge probably weighs the same as my dash cam and never came off even on severe washboarding (only reason i moved it from being velcro'd to my headliner was because i kept bumping it when messing with my mirror). i've seen a few people use velcro on the back of an aluminum plate for their rear dash cam, looked sturdy.

It's been a minute but that looks like the Verrazano. I am in NJ and it seems like it's borderline Russia over here in the last year or so.

That's how I installed mine and works great...even off-highway on washboard dirt roads. kb

They have dual camera dash cams, a cam with a forward and rear facing camera. Any reason you would not want to use one of those?

If you have a cam mounted in the rear, you would not be able to reach the controls if you wanted to save some video that was not automatically saved due to a low force impact.

the rear camera will be connected and controlled by the front camera.

I used a piece of aluminum stock and pulled out one of the fasteners from the headliner and used an oversized machine screw and screwed it in place of the fastener and some 3M. I've been on a few trails and haven't had any issues with it moving or falling off.

EDIT: I should also note that I have the G-sensor turned on for both my forward and rear facing dash cams and both are set to high sensitivity so any impact will automatic lock the footage at the moment. They are also on 24/7 but will only record when it detects motion.

You are correct sir, no tint on the rear window.

The rod holder is made by ROD-UP. I got the truck mounted version and ended up cutting the tubes down to size so I can get it as flushed as I could to the headliner. Does not get in the way even with passengers in the back seat.

Yes, the molle panels are from Rago.

Mine is adhesived to the liftgate, all the way to the right at the bottom of the back window, pointing a little bit left. I wanted to make sure I could read license plates up close, that's why I went lower. It also means it's protected unless the rear window is all the way down. So far no issues, although I might screw it in eventually.
