Rear hatch glass replacement

Has anyone replaced the rear glass on the hatch by themselves? I shattered my rear window this weekend offroading with a dirt bike on the hitch carrier, that swung into the window on a big bump. I need to drive my truck to school tomorrow, and I can get the rear glass from a local junkyard, but I have no idea how hard it is to replace. Called a few places to have it done, but they cant fix it until Friday at the earliest.

Should be pretty straight forward. You remove the rear hatch trim and inside plastic and then insert the glass and secure within the regulator assembly. The FSM should break it down pretty well as well. If you are at all mechanically inclined you should have no problem. Also good to have a friend help with holding the glass and helping you set it in place until it is secured.

You didn't mention the year of your ride. If it is an older model, and you live in a rust belt area, be prepared to have to replace some other items, like the lower glass frame. Also, if you have glass coverage with your insurance package, they might cover the entire cost of the replacement glass and a normal install.

Its an 04, and I live in California so no rust for me. After calling a few junkyards, they all wanted $250+ for just the glass, so called around some more shops and found a place that could do it today for $239. Just got it back and looks great. Insurance for my truck only covers windshields, or other windows if broken in a robbery or something, so it was out of pocket. But for $239 I have a new window, and its fixed today, so Im not complaining.
