I am in search of some help! Do y’all car camp/sleep in your car instead of a rooftop tent?

I do a lot of car camping and have cheap window screens that I purchased off of Amazon and love them but I’d like to keep the back hatch open. Has anyone ever seen something like this for the back hatch? Think of this as a tent door.

If not, I’m thinking about making one and producing it. I’m thinking it would cost around $99 shipped.

The way it would attach is a canvas perimeter sewed to the screen would feed in between the liner and the weather stripping then around the bottom and two sides would have a zipper to get in and out. When not in use you could just roll it up to the top with some velcro strips sewn in. Anything else y’all would look for?

I would make it for all generations of 4Runners.

Opinions appreciated!

I sleep on the ground, in a tent or under the stars, like people have for generations.

I'll sleep in the car, but only if the weather is truly heinous or I'm camping where there are high concentrations of carnivorous megafauna. In either of those cases, the car is principally for protection/deterrence and I sleep with it as closed up as possible.

Thanks for stopping by.

I would be interested in this product, but not necessarily for camping in my car. When I'm tent camping, I run a car fridge and like to keep inside car temps low so the fridge doesn't need to work too hard. This screen would be good for that since I don't need to worry about the car getting full of insects and stuff if the windows are down. Same deal if I need to put my dog in the car for some time.

Thanks man for the input. I know some of us like the ease of camping in the car because there is no setup or take down.

When reading the description, would you change anything about it? Is $99 shipped fair for the price?

I think your description is good, but regarding the zippers, if I'm understanding correctly it would have three vertical zips (left, center, right) and two along the bottom? This would allow for opening up either side or both sides.
$99 reads as $100 to me, and that's the psychological step up into the 'more expensive' range. $89 shipped would make it much more attractive to more customers.
