Rear hatch/wiper/window fuse location????

Why do you think this?
There is no one fuse for either of those things, and the fuses that do supply power back there also power other things.
A short is a nasty thing, not likely you have one. It would be easier to help you if you indicated some symptoms and what you tested that led you to believe what you do. However, I'll give you this little bit of direct experience.
I have a 2000 2wd base model I bought almost 2 years ago. The previous owner told me there was something wrong with the rear defogger switch so he had to pull the rear defog relay to keep from draining the battery. After I bought it, I proceeded to troubleshoot it. First thing I did was confirm the problem, sure enough the battery will go dead in a couple of hours with the relay in. Why? Because the relay is activated by body ECU, not the switch, and the body ECU was grounding the relay all the time. Now I live in California, we don't need rear window defoggers, so I've never fixed it. But pulling the relay keeps the battery from "draining". Not saying that is your problem, but it's easy to check.

These systems don't work that way, the switches trigger a module, the module directs power and ground.
You need to isolate the power drain more thoroughly first. Do you have the EWD? Are you experienced? You seem to be way ahead of yourself, I can help, others can help, but you need to check things from the beginning. Do you want to ?

I had my rear wiper, window and defrost not working and a mysterious battery drain. My rear harness going to the hatch was the issue. Pulled it apart and found numerous broken wires from years of opening and closing. Fixed the wires (jumpers, solder & shrink tube) everything is working fine now.

That harness is a common failure, but I don't see how that could cause a battery drain. The switches are triggering the Body ECU, and that is sending serial data to the Back Door ECU. Needless to say, that is something that should be looked at for sure.

OK, I'm a newbee here, but not to 4Runners (my '99 is my third one).
The DeFog Relay started click-click-clicking and draining the battery. I've pulled it and I think that's solved part of the problem, at least the battery drain, but it's not the cure. I don't know if the rear DeFog is working, but the rear wiper and the window still do which, if I interpret the above thread (and several others) shouldn't be the case. Also, the relay click starts when I close the driver's (or pass) door, stops when either door is open. What's the connection there?
But, what's the original cause? The back door harness as posted above? And why would that effect the driver's door switch?
And is the "body ECU" the other big relay in the box? Would that be related to the problem. Auto electronics is not my major skill.

Similar issue with rear window/rear window switch
Hello,
I recently acquired a '99 4Runner.
Rear window works and goes down using the key in the lock cylinder on the tail gate but trying to roll it down with the button on the dash it doesn't work.
Rear wiper also works using the stalk on the steering column.
I've tried adjusting the wiper blade on the back to make sure it's parked on the holder but nothing I've done seems to work.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

First stop: Child window lockout switch. Do any of your other windows work?

Yes, all other windows work.
I even engaged the child safety window and disengaged just to be sure.
Something that I'm now thinking is the middle dash bezel that encompasses all the climate and stereo controls is slightly loose on one side. I'm thinking that this bezel was taken off to access wiring when a previous owner had a viper car alarm installed and perhaps that switch is not hooked up. Another thought is they may have cut power to this switch or bypassed it when the alarm system was installed. I guess I won't know anything till I get in there and take it apart.
Still, if you, or anyone else, has other ideas I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

For what it's worth, I had the same issue as Lil_B. One broken wire in that harness, right at the top of the lift gate. Whenever the wire was open, the LED on the rear defrost dash button was lit, so something was drawing power. I doubt the LED was enough to drain the battery, but it was flat this afternoon, so something was pulling current. Little bit of solder and everything's great!

Holy cow you are quoting me from over 4 years ago!
The rear window defroster relay is in the fuse block closest to the battery. The rear window motor does not have a relay, it operates via the Body ECU in the rear gate. The rear Body ECU is triggered directly by the tailgate key switch, or via serial data sent from the Body ECU in the left dash area.
Still haven't fixed that rear defroster!

Well, he has a '97, so there IS a Power Window Relay (P12) in the liftgate, and there is no serial data system. The dash switch direct wires to the relay.
