rear hatch wont open/normalize locks

hello. I am struggling here..... back hatch issues..... will not open, anyways, after researching many posts all over the internet, i am hoping this will work. Disconnected the battery, and now i hear people have had some success in doing this then normalizing the locks afterwards. I cant find it anywhere, and the manual says to normalize the locks, but not how to do it, but take it to a dealer... surely there must be a way i can normalize the locks here without using a dealer.... thanks for any and all info...

1) replaced rear hatch assembly switch
2) disconnected battery, but only normalized windows, not sure if its the same thing.
3) the rear hatch ecu is the same number as the replacement unit for faulty ones, but not sure if that is the same number and updated, so i still need to consider to update it? number i have is 89222-35010
4) replugged all connections in back.

This whole situation happened around the time i was pulling a trailer, the wiring harness dragged on the ground, and i lost my lights... maybe a short did this?
one last thing, the rear wiper only works on intermittent and is tempermental as is the rear window at times..... like this since i bought it.. only 6 months ago.

update

Ok, thought i would have gotten a couple of replies....
but anyways, got my mechanic to take a quick look at things while doing my oil maintenance....
Redline stuff..... its expensive but good....
anyways, he found my rear hatch problem. Ok, long story short, bought a truck, been an accident not disclosed, blah blah blah... my fault and now dealing with it.
Ok, so he traced the one harness back, and behind the rear hatch ECU, tadaaaa..... he found it. The one line had completely rotted away.... How you ask? why the person before me, had some issues, used a tester and poked substantially large holes in the wiring harness hidden out of the way, and one had completely rotted away. Now that problem fixed, the rest of the harness all have lovely green holes in them and now needing a new harness. ANyone have any ideas where to get a whole harness so he doesnt have to repair each invidiual wire? Also...... unfortunately i have found out..... prior to him going in and while i was trying to dc the battery and reconnect trying to fix the problem myself..... whammo, cant get the wiper, window or defrost to work on the back tailgate now. Solved one problem (rear hatch opens) and now two more to deal with. Hopefully someone can help out here. tried the D/C battery again and normalize but the rear window wont go up or down to normalize. Thanks.

Must be another couple of wires in the harness that are corroded as it just started working the other day out of the blue. Looks like a trip to Toyota to see how much that harness will be as I can't find anywhere online that sells them.
