Rear Land Cruiser Spring Install Question

havent measured lately but im around 1.5" rake right now with 8 wraps. i didnt even think about removing the cone stoppers until reading this post. what would you guys guess it would drop ? i would think with the stopper preloading the coil it would definitely drop the thickness of the stop but also slightly more due to the preload? maybe wishful thinking but im tired of the rake

How long have you had it in? they do settle a bit. the cone I would guess is between .25 and .5 inches.

I had 4 cones laying around my garage. They are 3/8 of an inch thick at the top.

i know they measure around 1/2" and again im thinking it will drop that much and maybe a tad more from taking some of the preload off of the spring. If it wasnt so cold id go out today and do it. ill get to it sometime and take measurements before and after

the front lc coils will not work for the front of a 4runner only the rears will swap, as for counting coils just sit them on a flat surface and count from where it is cut, from there every 360 degree motion is a wrap.

actually izzard, its the front coils from the LC that go in the Rear of the 3rd gen 4runner.

and then the Rear coils from the LC go in the rear of the 2nd gen 4runner.

Amazing. The OP has a Sonoran Steel lift kit....the Sonoran Steel instructions say to leave out the cone. Leave out the cone. If you have any questions call Sonoran Steel.

one has to consider who wrote those instructions... Hes right to question those, Toyota obviously felt the need to put the cone there and I dont just blindly trust Sonoran Steel to know better than toyota..

honestly, like many have said, it doesnt really matter in this case. there have never been any reported negative effects from doing either.

There are about 10 different Toyota vendors and another 10 people on this board that I would consult before I would take instructions from an SS instruction sheet.

OP: FWIW...I have been running the LC coils sold with the SS 1.2 for almost 5 years without the cone and without issue.
