Rear lower shock bolt size?

So I was replacing my rear suspension this past weekend with 99' tall springs and Bilstein 4600 shocks. When I removed the old shocks I noticed that the lower bolts were different sizes, the drivers side bolt was about a 1/2" shorter and had a tighter pitch than the passenger side. When I went to install the new components the drivers side bolt just barely engaged with the post on the axle and was difficult to get started (with the new uncompressed rubber bushings), and I probably only got about 5 threads in. The passenger side was no problem at all. The pitches of the bolts were definitely different but the length is also pretty concerning. I want to get it right but I'm not sure what is stock and what happened with the different pitches, my only thought was that it might have been stripped and re-threaded by a previous owner? I couldn't find a part number or info on what this bolt is supposed to be stock?

I did my rear shocks a couple years ago, and I don't recall the studs being different sizes, and certainly not different thread pitches.
Aren't those welded right to the axle?

The bolt is a M12-1.25, but I'm not sure on the length. If you can get 5 threads in you're in pretty good shape. The OEM part number for the bolt w/washer is 91619-G1222.

Do you know the part numbers for the hardware at the top of the rear shocks? My rear shock broke and that cushion and washer fused together. I'm not sure if it's multiple washers or what.

I'm trying to find the fused together pieces but I fear they mightve gotten thrown away by someone when I had it lying around. Can't blame them if it looks like trash must be...

If your "shock broke" you need a new shock. New shocks will come with top hardware. Old rear shocks can easily be removed by just cutting that top piece (I did it by bending it back and forth and it broke).

Like Jack just said above me.. replacement shocks come with new hardware

As for the lower bolt... they shouldn't be different sizes. It would likely be worth replacing those with matching bolts either new or perhaps from a junkyard if you're really in a pinch?

Yeah, my biggest concern is that the shock mounts on the axle were threaded differently on each side. Has anyone ever run into this before??

They didn't come like that from Toyota, the previous owner must have changed one (or both) I would get a new set and replace both with your new suspension. But if you have 5 threads in, then your probably good enough for now.

If I was in your shoes: I'd grind off the threaded piece I need from the junkyard. I'd head over to my welder shop (they love me and my ability to break mufflers), remove the shock in their parking lot, grind off the piece I need replaced. Ask the shop to just weld the junkyard piece into place.

I've retapped so many thing on my 4runner. Sometimes the tap is perfect, sometimes it's a complete wash and I just get a longer bolt and put a nut on the other end.

Also worth noting, I picked up a complete rear axle from my junkyard for under 50 bucks. I did this when my rear diff fill bolt was seized; just to be proactive.
