Rear main seal cover?

I'm learning as I go along, I have successfully completed smaller jobs with help from this forum and YouTube.
But this seems like a bridge too far right now..
I don't want to make things worse LOL...

I'll have to live with it or find someone here in Houston that feels like helping...

If it's definitely coming from the rear main seal and not dripping down from the valve cover gaskets I would just leave it alone unless it was a big leak and you were constantly having to add oil. Or if it was a confirmed leak from the rear main seal & you were having to remove the transmission anyway.

I’m stuck right where you were!! How did you get this off! Those two bolts that protrude from the cover through the pan are tight… Almost like they’re threaded through the pan. If I pry forWard a little bit I can get the cover to just clear the two tabs on the sides I’m worried that the angle maybe too much and it’ll break that aluminum cover or create an angle too sharp to move those bolts up through the pan… So please please tell me how to do this����

Can't you just remove the studs from the block?

We replaced a rear main seal when doing a recent clutch job. It's at the beginning of Part 2.

If you've got the standard 2002 one floating around, it's in a couple sections.

EM-102 (page 914) mentions the 71 ft/lbs of the 6 bolts on the retainer, EM-97 (page 909) shows replacement with the retainer in-place and removed from the block.

Whoever reads this, it is 71 INCH LBS. or 8Nm.
