Rear main?

So there I was, changing my oil this weekend and I noticed there was a little oil covering the back of my trans and around my oil pan. I run Mobil full syn 5w30 and change at 6k and usually loose about 1.5 quarts or so between changes. Are the 4.0s known to have rear main leaks at high mileage? Im currently at 220k and still purring like a kitten.

Mine leaks a little too, but I haven't noticed any significant increase in the loss of oil. Keep an eye on it, but if the expect amount of oil loss increases significantly, then I would consider it a problem. Otherwise, drive on!

I noticed a small leak in my v8 coming from that area before when I first bought it in 2015. I read that Vavoline Maxlife has seal reconditioners in it and I switched over to that oil. Haven't seen any leaks ever since.

Thanks guys. I guess this would be expected for an engine of its mileage. It has been taken care of its whole life and i am the second owner. It was in near immaculate shape for the mileage and year. Ill keep an eye on it.
